Funny Sunny on top in the G2 Inside Information Stakes

POST TIME: 5:35PM EDT -- The G2 Inside Information Stakes to be run at 7 panels over the lightening fast GP dirt track draws a high quality field 11 Filly and Mare sprinters including the first and third place finishers in the Breeder's Cup Filly and Mare Sprint, #5 Musical Romance (a brilliant 20-1 selection that day by my colleague Brian Zipse ) and #11 Her Smile, respectively.  Both horses will receive considerable attention in the wagering along with #6 R Holiday Mood by virtue of current and past exploits.  From that group, I would favor Her Smile on the second back from the layoff.  I think Musical Romance will pass a bunch of tired horses late in this come-back-after-the-layoff race, but she needs a surface and pace that will be much more favorable to her late energy distribution profile.  I am taking a stand against R Holiday Road after she scored a double lifetime top in her two races back from the layoff.  She may end up being the favorite here but be careful with Todd Pletcher charges that have submitted multiple top efforts at this meet.  They can disappoint at very low odds.  My top choice in here is going to be #4 Funny Sunny.  Tough to find any knocks on this 4 year-old filly.  No question she is a horse for course as evidenced by her 4 for 4 in-the-money finishes at Gulfstream Park and her top 4 speed ratings were all achieved over the GP surface.  She is rounding nicely into form and as a four-year old making her third start off the layoff, she has plenty of upside.  Can she get the 7 furlong distance?  She tried once before but perhaps she wasn't a fan of the Keeneland Polytrack surface.  My dark horse here is #2 Persuading.  It has been awhile since she found the Winner's Circle and sprinting has not been her game, but if you are looking for a horse to complete your exotics at a price, I like this drop from the 1 1/8 distance on the turf after delivering lights out pace numbers. #10 Magical Feeling is just tearing them up and getting better with every race.  Thinking she has topped out for the moment but she poses the best late threat.

The Wager:

$1 Superfecta 4 with 2,9,10,11 with 1,2,5,6,8,9,10,11 with ALL

$.50 Trifecta 9,10,11 with 4 with 1,2,5,6,8,9,10,11

Persuading is moving up as a long shot play in the exotics. Really like that 2 furlong cut back in distance after posting monster pace numbers in her last. Go get 'em Jarrod!

Good luck, Mike. I played Funny Sunny last time. She likes GP and I will consider her again if the price is right.
