Today’s eighth race (2/9) at Gulfstream Park is the 30th
running of the $300,000 Gr. I Gulfstream Park Turf Handicap. This race will consist of four year olds and
upward running a mile and an eighth over the sod.
#6 – Animal Kingdom (8-5) is the morning line favorite and
will likely remain so once the gate opens.
The Leroidesanimaux horse has a career record of 9-4-4-0 with his only
off the board finish coming in the Gr. I Belmont Stakes back in 2011. Animal Kingdom has been firing dome nice
works as of last and will have Joel Rosario in saddle.
#4 – Unbridled Command (15-1) was last seen winning the
Hollywood Derby back on November 25th and will be looking for six
wins in a row today. Javier Castellano
will get the mount on the grey today.
#3 – Salto (4-1) has not raced since the El Prado back here
on December 22nd where he finished third behind Nikki’s Sandcastle
and Kharafa. The Pivotal horse has never
tried this distance on the turf so we will see if he has the stamina and class
against this bunch. Joe Bravo will ride
Salto.
#2 – Point of Entry (9-5) will be taking a lot of money here
as well for trainer Claude McGaughey.
The son of Dynaformer won three straight Grade One races last year
before finishing a close second in the Breeders’ Cup Turf back on November 3rd. Distance could be the question for this horse
today as he seems to like the mile and a half.
John Velazquez will re take his mount on Point of Entry.
