The BSFs of the last 10 BCC races. If Chrome wins as expected, what BSF figure do you guess he'll get? 2016 California Chrome ( ? ) 2015 American Pharoah (120) 2014 Bayern (113) 2013 Mucho Macho Man (112) 2012 Fort Larned (117) 2011 Drosselmeyer (104) 2010 Blame (111) 2009 Zenyatta (112) 2008 Raven’s Pass (110) 2007 Curlin (119) 2006 Invasor (106)
Chrome's work today was phenomenal, he's raring to go! Rider never asked for a single step!
American Pharoah’s final fraction in last year’s BCC was 24.60. California Chrome's was 24.44 2016 Pacific Classic. There is an excellent chance that he will be able to duplicate that, maybe even beat it with Arrogate and him closing for home. We might finally see Chrome fully cranked...scary. It is going to be something else if Arrogate shows up to the party with his dancing shoes.
From today's Racing Post web-site: Trainer Ralph Beckett tells the Racing Post this morning that the G3 Horris Hill Stakes winner will not be coming to Santa Anita for the G1 Breeders Cup Juvenile Turf after he was sold on Wednesday at the Tattersalls Horses In Training sale for $450,000(gns.) to Gassim Mohammad Ghazali and will now continue his racing career in Qatar.
Beholder galloped yesterday in preparation for the Distaff. She looks brilliant. http://www.xbtv.com/video/bcworks/beholder-galloped-at-santa-anita-park-on-october-26th-2016/
Looks just like her full sister. wonder how good Queen Bernadina is, didn't run well in the Alcibiades but beat 2 next out impressive winners
Well Bradester was pre-entered in the Dirt Mile...he has since been withdrawn. I wonder why...!?
It is highly IMPROBABLE if not impossible, to compare "pressed" segmental velocity times to "alone on the lead" times. Many a horse, all by itself, run like tigers only to falter when battling through those first 4 furlongs. Before you can support a horse that is a front runner (like Affirmed for example or Lady's Secret) is to watch and compare the fractions the animal OVERCAME to get that lead. Once they show that (i.e. War Emblem was an example who needed to be alone on the lead or he faltered) adaptability, you can project, but the need to lead animals have a large Achilles Heel.
There is a rain forecast this coming weekend. If the rain does continue through next week (but stop on BC day), we may have a semi off track like what we saw earlier this year at the Santa Anita Handicap.
From the AtTheRaces.com web-site: Trainer Aidan O'Brien has confirmed that first preference for Arc heroine Found at this year's Breeders Cup will be in the Breeders Cup Classic. Highland Reel was also included in the 14-strong pre-entry for this year's Classic, but O'Brien said to no surprise that he'll likely run in the Breeders Cup Turf instead. I assume the pre-entry of Highland Reel into the Classic field is just to give Coolmore an extra "standby" option in the race should something unforeseen go wrong to where Found wasn't able to contest the race.
Also from today's AtTheRaces.com web-site: Trainer David O'Meara announces that this year's G1 Arlington Million winner, Mondialiste, will likely run in the G1 Breeders Cup Turf in preference to contesting the Breeders Cup Mile for a second year in a row.

That is just too much for me to handle. I will ALWAYS REMEMBER YOU CAVORTING, The BEST FEMALE horse in the world SINCE ZENYATTA
  • Emily Tarantini via Disqus · Lol Have you lost your mind? Not even Top 10... · 13 days ago
  • sczen50 · I agree with you Thirsty! Yeah; since Zenyatta? Top 10 for sure. · 15 hours ago
How frustrating. Cavorting had shapen up to be a beautiful horse, and I was really looking forward to watching her run in the Breeders Cup. I hope she enjoys life as a broodmare. At least she's still at Stonestreet,
  • sczen50 · Yes Katie! Very frustrating! I honestly believe should would have made a dent in the top 3 in the Cup! Maybe even two of them. But now we'll never know. :( But at least she's doing okay now. Her health biggest concern. · 15 hours ago
Looks like the Turf Mile is his first preference, but he needs to draw in. Hope he does, much better shot there in my opinion, as opposed to the Dirt Mile, even with the Dirt Mile coming up lighter, just don't like that spot for him.
Would have to think he would go to the Dirt Mile? I hope so at least. He has a huge shot in that race turning back, where he has literally no shot in the Classic. 1 1/8 mile seems like his limit.
Although pre-entered, it doesn't look like Acapulco will get into the Breeder's Cup Turf Sprint. Does anyone know how the selection committee picks who gets in amongst the pre-entered besides the win and you're in races? Acapulco is likely 20th on the list and I'd pick her as the favorite. What a disappointment if she doesn't get in to have only an allowance race at turfway park and a $60k stakes race at Churchill for her 2016 campaign after winning at Ascot last year. Is Wesley kicking himself for at least not one prep?
Do you know what are the best career final fractions of each horse's competition in mile and a quarter races? California Chrome - 24.44 2016 Pacific Classic. Career in 1 1/4 Mile Races: 6 Starts 4-1-1-0. Fastest 1 1/4 Mile Time: 1:59.93 (calculated) – 2014 BCC. Melatonin - 24.27 2016 Gold Cup race at Santa Anita. Career in 1 1/4 Mile Races: 2 Starts 2-0-0-0. Fastest 1 1/4 Mile Time: 1:59.79 – 2016 Gold Cup at Santa Anita. Beholder - 24.65 2015 Pacific Classic. Career in 1 1/4 Mile Races: 1 Starts 1-1-0-0. Fastest 1 1/4 Mile Time: 1:59.77 – 2015 Pacific Classic. Arrogate - 23.84 set a Travers Stakes & Saratoga track record. Career in 1 1/4 Mile Races: 1 Starts 1-0-0-0. Fastest 1 1/4 Mile Time: 1:59.36 – 2016 Travers Stakes. Wish Beholder was racing in this year's BCC. She would definitely beat some of the boys.

  • sczen50 · Chrome's in the Pacific could've been wayyy faster! I agree that Beholder wish she was in. Oh, darn right she could beat some of these boys. Dortmind could beat some of these guys. · 16 hours ago
