Who's better? Cupid or Collected?
Was pretty much blocked today!!
Wow! Collected Crushes by 14 in very smart 1:41.52. Baffert could have five in the BCC gates.
Okay Baffert says either BC Mile and gasp, turf! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-0pNO2UDQC4
If the triple crown was run later in the year (like the Canadian TC), do you think we would have seen more or fewer triple crown winners? something I was thinking about today.
Hope we keep seeing the Bluegrass and Wood horses winning the rest of this year. Anything to get those back to G1
Heading to the Oceanside Stakes at Del Mar on July 19th
Arms Runner scratched. I was looking forward seeing him run in this one.
Getting back to Arrogate: Given the limited purse of the San Diego Handicap, and the fact that any G1 caliber horse will avoid him (Midnight Storm and Cupid amongst CA older horses, and Hoppertunity appears to be injured), is there a possibility he wins this in a walkover? If it were a $500K race, I think horses would settle for $100 K second. But for $40K? I think there is a real possibility everyone else passes on this. I think we may see a repeat of the 1980 Woodward.
  • kstott524 via Disqus · You may already know but the purse has been increased to 300k provided that Arrogate runs. Gotta believe there will be a few takers. I'm gonna take a guess and say it will be a 4-5 horse field but I have no thoughts on who may show up. · 2 hours ago
Thrilled he won. One of my favorites. Hasn't lost that turn of foot clearly
Arms Runner trying dirt. Fun! I like it. If he takes to it, he's dangerous.
Oscietra et al--FYI. Caravaggio is now on the undefeated watch list. :)

Hope he can get another graded stakes win or two, and it would probably be dreaming but I would love for him to be like Honor Code and be his last G1 winning offspring of Holy Bull.
The younger full brother of Highland Reel, Idaho, finally gets it right with an impressive win in the G2 Hardwicke Stakes at Royal-Ascot.
Wow, what a filly! Bolted up on debut by a street at Leopardstown, and again today in the listed Chesham Stakes at Royal-Ascot. Love that Deep Impact X Peeping Fawn pedigree.
  • jonquil · I had a good feeling about this one even though her siblings, including her full brother, had failed to make any ireal mpact (heh). Then I saw her first race and I was convinced. Delighted to see her go on to get a Listed at Royal Ascot. · 8 hours ago
Why are they running this horse today in Santa Anita ? No Biz Like Sho Biz
  • Oscietra via Disqus · What? This horse is retired and not in today's SA entries. · 8 hours ago
  • andthey'reoff · It's a different horse with the same name. · 6 hours ago
By the way, has Buckpasser posted lately? Given what he has written about whom he has seen (starting with Native Dancer), he is not exactly a spring chicken. I have not seen him post lately. I hope he is OK.
  • Buckpasser via Disqus · Thank you for your concern. I'm fine, just been a bit busy and haven't gotten around to post, but was about to post about the Tin Man · 8 hours ago
I think the extra furlong will work to MYB's advantage, given his strong finish.
If Shaman Ghost and Cupid both show up, hopefully, they will then upgrade this back to G1 next year.
The winner of the IWC v CE race will still be an Eclipse contender. The loser will be pretty much done.
