POST TIME 5:08 EST--A really contentious, full field of three year-old fillies have assembled for the G3 Old Hat Stakes at Gulfstream Park. The dirt track for sprints has been favoring pressers from off the rail in a Del Mar-like pattern this first week. #11 Carphonic (5-1) offers an interesting proposition in a field that contains some speed on the rail. People tend to discount horses coming over from Calder when entered in stakes races. Historically, that has been a big mistake. #11 Carphonic (5-1) is out of Bill White's barn and John Velasquez (huge first week at GP) gets the call. Runaway winner in her only two starts and could easliy have won by five more in her last if not for steadying twice early on. Some will conclude she's a closer based on that last troubled running line. Look for a reserved position on the outside about three lengths off a wall of speed. Like the turn back from 7 furlongs and the recent works since the 56-day layoff say "all systems go. Look for a huge new top in this come-back race. Stuck on the rail is #1 My Jen (8-1) which is not the place to be but this one is charting off the board for a huge move forward. #2 Female Drama (7-1) out of the always fast starting GP meet specialist, Todd Pletcher, is THE speed in the race. Difficult to see this one taking it all but not out of the question. Scorching up the track in her works. Long shots #3 Criolla Bonita (12-1) and #7 Touching Beauty (9-1) deserve bottom of exotics consideration. The former posted a gargantuan 110 BRIS late pace figure last out. Touching Beauty will improve off the come back race.
