Today’s seventh race (1/19) at Gulfstream Park is the 2nd
running of the $300,000 Sunshine Millions Distaff. This race will consist of fillies and mares
four years old and upward running a mile and an eighth over the dirt
course.
The morning line favorite of the bunch is the four horse;
Successful Song (7-5). This six year old
mare has a career record of 26-7-5-5 and has hit the board in her last six
starts. The Edward Plesa trainee was
last seen winning a mile event back on December 30th with Joel
Rosario up in the saddle. The two will
be together again today.
#3 – Score Boyera (8-1) will be making the trip down from
New York where she was last seen winning an optional claiming race in the
slop. The horse has hit the board in
three straight starts with trainer David Jacobson and the duo will be trying to
keep that streak alive. Junior Alvarado
will get the mount today on the seven year old mare.
#1 – My Pal Chrisy (3-1) is coming second off a layoff and
will be looking to improve on her third place finish behind Successful Song
back on December 30th.
Speak Easy Gal (5-2) could be another contender in this
group. The daughter of West Acre will
likely set the pace and try to take them all the way. She has been mainly a turf horse in here
career so we will see how she takes to the dirt.
