Today’s tenth race (1/13) at Gulfstream Park is the 25th
running of the $100,000 Gr. III Hal’s Hope.
This contest will feature four year olds and upward running a mile over
the dirt course.
#9 – Pants On Fire (5-1) – Will be making his first start
since November 17th where he finished sixth in the Delta Mile. The Jump Start horse has some nice works
since then and will be looking for a rebound race. Pants On Fire has two wins and one second
from four career starts traveling a mile.
Paco Lopez gets the mount on the Kelly Breen trainee.
Next on my list is the five horse Delegation (4-1). The Speightstown gelding has eight career
starts and has yet to finish off the board for trainer Mark Casse. Delegation was last seen finishing second
behind Csaba in the Harlans Holiday stakes back on December 16th. John Velazquez will be in the irons today.
#2 – Associate (6-1) could have his hat in the ring as well
for trainer Rick Dutrow. The Wando horse
has never finished off the board at this distance and is very good coming off a
layoff. Joel Rosario will be up in the saddle today.
#10 – Pool Play (15-1) was last seen finishing eighth in the
Breeders’ Cup Classic back on November 3rd. The millionaire by Silver Deputy is used to
running longer so the distance should not be a problem. Pool Play is also trained by Mark Casse and
Miguel Mena will be the jock today.
