Saturday's 9th race (4:25pm CT) at Fair Grounds is the $60,000 Dixie Poker Ace Stakes for LA-bred 4-year-olds and up traveling a flat mile on the turf course.

#1 BLACKNTANSATLARRYS (6-1) came here off a two month break and was 3rd behind runaway winner and today’s favorite #4 Populist Politics (5-2) in the Mr. Sulu (off the turf) Nov 24. He is back on preferred turf footing and captured all three grass starts at this flat mile distance. A ground saving tactical trip at a hint of a price is projected.

#3 Old Bushmill (8-1) raced wide from an outer post and was the beaten favorite in the common LA Champions Turf. The 4yo colt won three straight prior to his last and can spring forward 2nd off the shelf.

#2 Wildrally (9-2) won this last year and was the 3rd head on the line in same race Old Bushmill exits. Rosie rides the 8yo gelding well and he's a late running threat with anything resembling his last.

Populist Politics ran into win machine Star Guitar on the main track here Dec 10 but was hardly disgraced in a solid runner-up effort. He was necked in lone turf outing but it remains to be seen if he can excel on grass against this competitive group.

#6 String King (6-1) and #5 Kissimmee Kyle (4-1) finished 1-2 in the aforementioned LA Champions Turf and both are solid contenders again.

The Plays:

$16 to win #1
$1 Trifecta 1-3/1-2-3-4/1-2-3-4-5-6 ($24)

Fair Grounds is good to go on turf at this point. Turf is firm with rail set at 10 feet. Scratch #9 Congo Cat.
Heard it is going to rain or rain forecast. On dirt who is likely?
