Saturday's 10th race (4:55pm CT) from Fair Grounds is the $60,000 Sugar Bowl Stakes for 2-year-olds dashing six furlongs on the main track.

#4 LAURIE’S ROCKET
(6-1) chased above par splits (3 wide) before coming up empty in better than appears Delta Jackpot effort. He does some of his best work in fast track sprints and shows an improving numbers pattern under those circumstances. He has enough positional speed to keep the leaders in his sights and can wear these down under Hernandez.

#6 Brown Eyed Josi (7-2) cannot be trusted to run two alike but the fleet colt has breakaway ability. He could run these into the ground or finish up the track.

#8 Afford (9-2) romped as the strong choice in Hawthorne maiden breaker Nov 16. The promising son of Street Sense attracts Albarado and might be this good.

#1 Exfactor (5-2) flashed versatile ability at Churchill earlier this year and makes his first start in more than five months. Was he just an early bloomer or will he continue to develop?

#3 Sherp (6-1) finished a ½ length behind my top on Oct 30 before getting dusted by Brown Eyed Josie.  She projects a decent tactical trip under Rosie.

THE PLAYS:

$16 to win #4

$1 Trifecta Key 4/1-3-6-8 ($12)

$1 Trifecta 1-3-6-8/4/1-3-6-8 ($12)

Despite the lack of value, I had my money on Exfactor. I figured that he would have to run a very poor race in order to lose.

3-2 fav Exfactor nips my 6-1 value top Laurie's Rocket in a thrilling renewal of the Sugar Bowl. Managed to make a small profit in the tri. My top ran too good to lose!
