Saturday's 8th race from Fair Grounds is the Louisiana Handicap for 4-year-olds and up traveling a mile and a sixteenth on the main track.

#5 BRETHREN (5-1) is on the upswing for Asmussen and he almost caught lone speed and today’s rival #2 Hurricane Ike (7-2) in a similar spot last time. Bridgmohan knows him now and he lands a better middle post today.

#1 Mark Valeski (5-2) makes his first start in more than eight months and is firing local bullets for this. He runs well here and is an obvious threat if he can shake off the rust.

#3 Infrattini (5-1) rattled off three straight to end his 2012 campaign. He can fire a fresh shot and is a factor if he picks up where he left off.

THE PLAYS:

$15 to win #5

$10 Exacta 5/1-2-3 ($30)

$5 Exacta 1-2-3/5 ($15)

early order of preference; Mark Valeski 3 Infrattini 2 Hurricane Ike 5 Brethren 1
