Sunday's 5th race (4:00PM PT) from Del Mar is the G2 Del Mar Derby for 3-year-olds traveling nine furlongs on the turf.
#6 Twirling Candy (4-5) has done nothing wrong in a trio of victories to begin his promising career. He was visually impressive in the opening day Oceanside and is firing bullets for this. The Sadler trainee is sitting on a Graded win and it's on to bigger and better things after this.
#4 Summer Movie (8-1) was taken out of his early-pressing game after a slow start in the G2 La Jolla and
Sidney's Candy freaked on a fast pace that day. He never quit in a respectable 4th place effort and today's expected moderate pace scenario helps his cause.
#3 Royal F J (12-1) finally graduated and looked good doing it over the local weeds Aug 15. Bejarano hops aboard and note that he has been part of the Trifecta in all ten turf tries.
#1 Kid Edward (2-1) may be worth trying to beat at underlaid odds. He is on the improve but is making his 3rd start of the meet and
sucked up for the place behind
Sidney's Candy last time.
