Thursday's 7th race (5:00PM PT) from Del Mar is an Optional Claiming event for 3-year-olds and up traveling five furlongs on the turf.
#4 Square Deal (8-1) finished 5th in a $100,000 Stakes affair when last seen over the Calder weeds July 10. He earned strong Final Time Ratings in previous two main track sprint wins and graduated on the sod. The gelded son of Sky Mesa has solid SoCal connections in his corner and should sit a decent tactical trip at square odds.
#6 Quick Enough (3-1) gamely captured his local Polytrack return and his new trainer Mike Mitchell is 31%
first off the claim. The fragile 6yo usually avoids a bounce and if that pattern holds he should fire a nice prominent throughout shot in this spot.
#5 Mallinson Road (5-1) flopped as the favorite in his US bow. He dons the hood and has every right to move forward in his second start in this country.
