Friday's 7th race (7:00pm PT) from Del Mar is a $70,000 Maiden Special Weight event for 3-year-olds and up traveling one mile on the turf course.

#6 Warrior's Ridge (9-2) ran well in all three starts on turf including show finish on two weeks rest at 8.5f here July 21. He dueled through slow splits before ending up 3rd last time and benefits from this slightly shorter trip. Nothing wrong with leading rider Bejarano hopping aboard and he has much better spacing with almost 6-weeks between starts this time around.

Play Friday's Del Mar Games at DerbyWars.com.

#1 Hometown Hero (3-1) has the most upside. He took action (9-2) in his local flat mile synthetic bow and ended up an okay 7th of 9 (beaten 6.25 lengths) after breaking through the gate. Dam has tossed a turf winner and he sports a pair of solid local moves for this.

#4 Big Bane Theory (7-2) is out of decent grass sire Artie Schiller and sharp conditioner Carla Gaines is enjoying a fine meet. He fired a local 5f bullet July 26 and solid grass rider Talamo ends up here.

#2 Money Talker (7-2) might take too much win action under Gomez and might be best used underneath. He has been in the hunt in all five career starts but the purse nibbler always comes up short.

The Plays:

$18 to win #6

$6 Quinella 1-6

$1 Trifecta Key 6/1-2-4 ($6)

Well, the 2 horse you mentioned was aptly named.

se why that was just an experiment, as I noted these races are usually of chaos quality

Lets try a dtuching experiment with $38 on the 1, $34 on the 2 and $28 on the 6

I tend to steer clear of turf maiden as you never know what bull dogs are amongst those firsters. Still the 1 and 2 stand out over the 6 with the information at hand, that is.

Very tough race Jarrod. Had to re-run the race after seeing how the track was playing. I would be very careful of the Canani firster and the Cerin horse (7-9)...it's a long shot race. Good luck!!!
