Wednesday's 8th race (5:35pm PT) from Del Mar is the $150k Generous Portion for CA-bred or sired 2-year-old fillies dashing six furlongs on Polytrack.

#7 Easter Fever (7-2) smartly captured her course-distance bow as the favorite and Miller bought her for $50k. Kent D sticks, she worked well here Aug 7, and she might be this good.

#4 Desert Steel (3-1) exits a romping 5f win here over next out winner and today's rival #2 Princess Bertrando (12-1). The likely target fired a local bullet July 27.

#5 Do the Danse (12-1) won her first two starts before fading to last in a NoCal dirt stakes affair at this trip Aug 8. Hollendorfer (3 wins Sunday) reaches out for his $$ rider Bejarano and she has plenty of morning synthetic experience (Golden Gate).

The Plays:

$18 to win #7

$8 Quinella 4, 7

$4 Quinella 5, 7

8 10 9 and the 7 had a bum trip behind slowing down horses with no place to go

Two year old races can be easy and predictable or difficult and frustrating. Because our evaluations are based on past performance, and two year olds have very little, our analysis can be very flawed. However, based on what is known, contenders before scratches are: #9, 4, 7, 10. Adjusting the race to model the most likely winner comes up with the #9 Lost Bus (9/2) Espinoza/Heap...good connections with a runner who won her first race and is knocking on the door again. Bet #9 to win. Exotics...9/4, 7, 10, 2 and reverse. Good luck!!!

before scratches the top three contenders appear to be:6 Grand Yodeler 4 Desert Steel
9 Lost Bus Lots of "front end" here but that is typical of a baby field with no less than 6 "potential" front runners: 6 7 9 4 5 1 Also have to add the 10 (My Fiona) as a possibility underneath. In fields that are unbalanced, pace wise, almost anything can happen but 4 6 2 9 have come from the fastest paces of race to get here today
