Thursday's 3rd race (3:00PM PT) from Del Mar is a straight Maiden event for state bred or sired 3-year-olds and up traveling a flat mile on the turf.
#6 Alley Hondro (7-2) has improved since returning from a layoff and
switching barns. Ellis is 24%
3rd off the shelf and he is bred well
enough for turf.
#2 Romeo Royale (5-1) failed to threaten in local Polytrack sprint bow Aug 1. The 3yo son of Unusual Heat should like turf and there is nothing wrong with Bejarano climbing aboard.
#4 Swoon's Tune (20-1) is out of 29% first grass sire Jackpot and dam has tossed a turf winner. The second time starter adds blinkers and will probably attend the pace under Flores.
#3 Cantona (5-1) has had eight chances but fits on numbers and retains Rosario. I will use him underneath.
#8 Papa Lev (3-1) is wheeled back quickly and returns to preferred turf footing. He can go better for the overdue Abrams barn.
