Saturday's 6th race (4:30PM PT) from Del Mar is an Optional Claiming event for 3-year-olds and up traveling six and one-half furlongs on Polytrack.
#4 Gallant Gent (6-1) was my value top in the grassy Oceanside and he ended up a respectable 3rd behind impressive winner Twirling Candy. The Craig Lewis trainee fired in both local Polytrack starts last year and owns three wins and a head defeat in his four career sprint tries. The 3yo tries salty older foes but returns to a preferred
one turn event and should be sitting on a top in his 3rd race of the year.
#8 Mobilized (6-1) is 2-for-2 at this distance and rallied to win his lone local outing off the shelf last summer. Late-running threat under Flores.
#3 Fantasy Free (3-1) drops out of a pair of Graded events and shows up in the Mike Mitchell barn.
#2 Afleet Ruler (7-2) is not big on winning but typically hits the board and ran well here July 25.
