Saturday's 6th race (4:30PM PT) from Del Mar is an Optional Claiming event for 3-year-olds and up traveling six and one-half furlongs on Polytrack.

#4 Gallant Gent (6-1) was my value top in the grassy Oceanside and he ended up a respectable 3rd behind impressive winner Twirling Candy. The Craig Lewis trainee fired in both local Polytrack starts last year and owns three wins and a head defeat in his four career sprint tries. The 3yo tries salty older foes but returns to a preferred one turn event and should be sitting on a top in his 3rd race of the year.

#8 Mobilized (6-1) is 2-for-2 at this distance and rallied to win his lone local outing off the shelf last summer. Late-running threat under Flores.

#3 Fantasy Free (3-1) drops out of a pair of Graded events and shows up in the Mike Mitchell barn.

#2 Afleet Ruler (7-2) is not big on winning but typically hits the board and ran well here July 25.

Doug O'Neill has a pair of contenders in this wide open contest. Recent purchase #5 All Man (5-1) has been part of trifecta in nine straight and #6 A Lil Dumaani (5-1) attracts Bejarano and has won here before.

The Plays: $18 to win #4, $4 Quinella 4-8, $1 Trifecta 4-8/2-3-5-6/4-8 ($8) - analysis by Jarrod Horak

I like #2 Afleet Ruler---Del Mar was favoring speed on 7/25 and Afleet was down 4.5 lengths early but got up for 2nd losing by only half a length!

Best of luck on the pick 6!
