Sunday's 8th race (5:40pm PT) from Del Mar is the Grade II John C. Mabee Stakes for fillies and mares traveling a mile and an eighth on the turf course.

#6 City to City (6-1) has dropped four straight in the Graded turf ranks but reunites with winning pilot Nakatani and is more than capable of beating this group on her best day. She won the G2 Palomar here last summer and fired a local turf bullet July 29.

#4 Nereid (2-1) dons the hood and will try to steal this under Talamo. She has not won since G1 American Oaks vs. 3yo fillies last July but should have no excuses if she sneaks away early as expected. She has a pair of BHP bullets in her holster.

The Plays:

$18 to win #6

$12 Quinella 4-6

She does love to run on the outside ! Congratulations to City and her team !

Thanks, cognibene. I'll take the hard fought head victory and $15 win payoff. Crazy day at Del Mar today with numerous upsets and Pick 5/6 carryovers into Wednesday.

Nice pick Jarrod. I liked the horse too from his workouts. But it was really close at the end. Congratulations!
