Every Way - Prepped, Primed Ready in the G2 JCMabee

POST TIME 8:30 PM EDT--What was a field of nine fillies and mares, this year's edition of the G2 John C. Mabee Stakes has been reduced to six accomplished lawn mowers.  This compact group is headlined by the matron of the field, #6 Miss Serendipity who was last seen mowing them down in the Grade 1 Gamely Stakes at Santa Anita.  She has been on the shelf for awhile and Ron McAnally charges usually need a race or two to be at their best but all reports indicate she has held her form very well since late May.  In a field of very little early distribution of energy,  #9 Cozze Up Lady gets the perfect pace set up and in my opinion, it is her race to lose off that impressive victory on the ultra, ultra firm Del Mar turf course.  Reportedly, she has plenty left in the tank for a top effort today.  Stalking her will be my top choice today out of the barn of Michael Stidham, and that's #2 Every Way ridden today by Jumpin Joe Talamo.  This Arlington Park shipper ran a great prep in the G3 Modesty Stakes finishing a very tenacious 4th in a huge field of 14.  I like the cut back in distance today and this filly will relish the hard Del Mar turf course as she did her best running last summer on the drought-hardended AP turf course.  Should sit very comfortably off the leader negotiating reasonble fractions before pouncing late for the win.  #3 Wishing Gate does well on the old Del Mar turf course and experienced quite a bit of trouble in her last but she'll find a pace today that might not serve this closer well for anything other than a minor prize.
