Friday's 8th race (7:30pm PT) from Del Mar is a $10,000 claiming event for 3-year-olds and up dashing six panels on Polytrack.

#9 Sea Rascal (9-2) exits back-to-back sharp NoCal wins and the 9yo gelding was claimed out of his last by competent conditioner Jauregui. The outside tactical threat has won here before and Krigger does fine work with E/P types.

#11 Gold Medallion (7-2) appears to be coming to a race in his 3rd start off the shelf. He exits an even 4th vs. local $12.5k sprinters and the 2-3 finishers from that heat both came back to win. He receives a rider upgrade from Delgadillo to Bejarano.

#6 Fit And Awesome (5-1) is an interesting shipper now under the care of Cody Autrey. He drops back in for a tag and tries synthetic for the first time. PVal hops aboard the early-pressing type.

The Plays:

$18 to win #9

$8 Quinella 9-11

$4 Quinella 6-9

going to pass as nothing seems dominant enough to have a confident wager

John Henry won very well at that age. Musketier is still doing it. An old 10 year old gelding set the 6 furlong track record at Hastings years back...They are TOUGH and love to run usually. 6 , 4 , 2 to battle early and then a host of them coming late. A dutch 2 3 11 maybe or simply watch if the odds are not there.

6,4,2 to battle ear

Very tough race. Seems like the only horse in shape by virtue of its 3F work on 4 Aug at G.G. However, it's no cinch. The knocks are: 1) He's a 9 y.o. horse. 2) Coming from an inferior circuit. 3) Wears front wraps (? leg problems) 4) Will probably be the favorite with no value.
