Tonight’s twelfth race (4/20) at Charles Town is the 5th running of the $1,500,000 Gr. II Charles Town Classic.  This race will be run over the dirt and at a distance of a mile and an eighth.

Scratches: #1 – Mordi’s Miracle

On paper the lone speed of the contest is the three horse, Game On Dude (4-5).  The gelding out of Awesome Again has 12 wins, five seconds, and one third from 24 career starts.  The Bob Baffert trainee has won three straight races with the last being the Gr. I Santa Anita Handicap.  If Game On Dude is not pressured in this race, G.O.D might walk away with this one.

Todd Pletcher is sending out two horses in this race in the two Percussion (12-1), and the six Caixa Electronica (6-1).  One of these two could present the pressure on Game On Dude and if that is the case, this race might not be a walk in the park for G.O.D.  From my perspective Percussion will be sent to the lead to try and wear down the famous gelding while Caixa sits mid-pack.

Another horse to look out for is the five Ron the Greek (5-2).  The son of Full Mandate has eight wins from 24 career starts and three of those wins have come at the mile and an eighth distance.  Jose Lezcano will re-take his mount on Ron the Greek (5-2).
