th race in Saturday is the Gr.
II Distaff Turf Mile. This race will be
run on the turf and will consist of fillies and mares four years old and upward
running 1 mile for a purse of $200,000.
#3 - Marketing Mix (5-2) is making her second start of the
year and is looking to go three for three dating back to November of last
year. The Medaglia d’Oro mare is one for
one over the Churchill Downs track and with Julien Leparoux in the saddle not too
much can go wrong. One to beat!
#9 – The Chad Brown mare La Reine Lionne (6-1) is another
serious contender in this race. She has
hit the board ten times out of fourteen career starts. In her last start she finished third behind
Bay to Bay and Tapitsfly, I look for her to improve this time around.
#10 – Another horse who always seems to hit the board is
Hungry Island (6-1). Out of eleven career
starts she was won four, placed twice and finished third another four
times. The last time she was on the turf
at Churchill she finished third behind Marketing Mix and I believe a similar
result will take place.
