Today’s eighth race (9/7) at Belmont Park is the 55th running of the $250,000 Bowling Green Handicap.  This race will consist of three year olds and upward running a mile and a quarter (1 ¼) over the inner turf course.

#4 – Hyper (5-2):  Chad Brown and Javier Castellano will saddle the son of Victory Gallop here on opening day of the fall championship meet.  Hyper has only missed the board four times from 20 career starts all of which have come over the turf.  Last time out the six year old horse won the John’s Call back at Saratoga on July 31st

#6 – Finnegans Wake (4-1):  Has not won since the 10th of June 2012 but has been facing steep competition on a consistent basis.  His beyer has improved since he started his four year old campaign and this could be the race for him to get back in the winner’s circle.  Last time out he finished fourth in the Gr. I Arlington Million back on August 17th at Arlington Park. Cornelio Velasquez will take the irons on Finnegans Wake.

#1 – Boisterous (7-5):  Disappointed last time our as the favorite in the Gr. I Sword Dancer back on August 17th.  Should improve with an inside post position and facing weaker company.  The son of Distorted Humor has 11 wins from 26 career starts.  John Velazquez will ride.
