Belmont’s 9th race today (9/22) is the $200,000 Gr. II Gallant Bloom Handicap.  This race will consist of fillies and mares three years old and upward running six and a half furlongs over the dirt.  The Gallant Bloom is a ‘Win and You’re in’ race for the Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Sprint come November.

#4 – Judy the Beauty (6-1) is coming off a close second place finish to Emma’s Encore in the Gr. I Prioress back at Saratoga.  This Ghostzapper filly has never finished worse than second in all six of her career races.  Judy the Beauty has had some nice works in under trainer Wesley Ward recently and seems to be in top form for this contest.

The morning line favorite in this race is the ten horse; Turbulent Descent (9-5).  The Congrats filly is coming off a win in the Gr. I Ballerina on August 24th back at Saratoga.  The Todd Pletcher trainee has a career record of eight wins and two seconds from 12 career starts.  John Velazquez will be back in the saddle as well.

#9 – Musical Romance (5-2) will likely go off as the second favorite in this race behind Turbulent Descent.  The Breeders Cup Filly and Mare Sprint winner will be looking to add another graded stakes race to her already impressive career.
