Purim's Dancer stretches out in Wilshire

Sunday's 8th race (4:39pm PT) from Betfair Hollywood Park is the Grade III Wilshire Handicap for fillies and mares traveling one mile on the turf course.

#1 Purim's Dancer (4-1) is 4-for-5 on turf (all sprints) with her lone grass defeat a show finish behind downhill monster Mizdirection at Santa Anita April 13. Tactical sprint types frequently handle two turns because of their even energy distribution and she is bred to go this far.

#8 Halo Dolly (7-2) is 8-for-15 on turf (1-for-1 at BHP) but has dropped four straight and 5 of her last 6. Bejarano and Hollendorfer continue to click together and the win type is 5-for-7 at a flat mile.

#6 Byrony (6-1) rallied to finish a solid 3rd off a short rest at Santa Anita April 7. Both wins last year occurred over the local weeds and she has been stabled at BHP since early March.

The Plays:

$18 to win #1

$8 Quinella 1-8

$4 Quinella 1-6

Scratch #6 Byrony. This is an interesting race, cognibene. The Digest clocker likes Nobilis and I can definitely see that one in the mix, though I'm not sure about the sharp one mile trip. Good luck!

O.K. Here we go again, for what it's worth jarrod...you picks are good and sometimes I agree and sometimes not. Today I think I've come up with a horse that is a sleeper. Take a look and see if you don't agree...Contenders are, #8, 4, 1, 2. The #4 is a legitamate favorite and will be there. The #8 is a good horse with the potent duo of Bejarano/Hollendorfer, but is coming from an inferior track and competition. The #1 is a good horse, but has never shown a preference for the distance. The #2 Nobilis (4/1), Espinoza/Callaghan is, I believe, a monster of a sleeper. If the horse runs anywhere close to its last race, the rest are all running for second. Bet #2 to win. Exactas...2/all. Tri...2/8, 4, 1, 5/ all. Good luck!!!
