Friday's 6th race (3:36pm PT) from Betfair Hollywood Park is a $52,000 Maiden Special Weight affair for fillies and mares traveling a mile and a sixteenth on Cushion track.

#4 Trojenna (7-2) improved smartly in a Feb. 1 turf route second time out but could not keep the momentum going at a flat mile on grass April 5. She has been training at BHP all along and Gary Mandella shows a profit 2nd off the shelf. Rafael Bejarano rode #9 Thisonesforricky to a second place finish in the aforementioned April 5 turf race but he lands on my top choice today and she fired a local bullet for this April 19.

#6 Tiz Midnight (5-2) finished a troubled 3rd in her dirt sprint bow at Santa Anita. The daughter of Midnight Lute, out of stakes winning mare Tough Tiz's Sis, has the breeding to be a good one and sports a 6f bullet for this. The promising Baffert trainee tries two turns and synthetic for the first time.

#9 Thisonesforricky (7-2) moved forward in her last two route starts and the daughter of Empire Maker figured to enjoy two turns. Like my top, she is also stabled here and today's pilot Mike Smith rode her to a place finish Feb. 18.

The Plays:

$18 to win #4

$6 Quinella 4/6-9 ($12)
