POST TIME 6:34 PM EDT -- The Hollywood Turf Cup draws a smart field of 10 headlined by the three year-old gelding, #4 Grandeur, winner of three of his last 5 including a fast- closing 2nd last out in the G1 Hollywood Derby.  An honest, though by no means brutal pace appears likely with #2 Optimizer, #3 Slim Shadey and #5 Fire with Fire leading the way for the first mile of this 1 1/2 mile marathon.  No question that #4 Grandeur will be one of the quickest movers in the late stages of this race and he provides the horse player with an ideal "single" candidate in the vertical wagers.  A win would not be a surprise, but I see a lesser prize for this game 3 year-old trying 1 1/2 miles for the first time.  My top selection for the win will be #10 Kindergarden Kid.  He was last seen closing for a decent 6th in the Breeders' Cup Turf and prior to that, this 5 year-old gelding won the G3 Sycamore at Keeneland.  Despite a troubled 3rd place finish, his best effort of the year came out of the Turf Classic at Belmont in which he finished within 4 1/4 lengths of Point of Entry.  Despite the poor post today, he should secure a comfortable, mid-pack position early on sitting about 5th.  Javier Castellano comes in to take the mount (same pilot that guided the Turf Classic top effort).  No question about his abilty at 1 1/2 miles (unlike several others in here).  Appears in top form right now and will be tough down the stretch.  #3 Slim Shadey, #6 Grassy and #7 Bourbon Bay round out my top 5.

THE WAGER:

$.60 Superfecta 10 with 3,4,6,7 with 1,3,4,5,6,7 with ALL  ($84)

$1 Trifecta 3,4,6,7 with 10 with 1,3,4,5,6,7 ($20)

I am playing Kindergarten Kid as well! Good luck!
