Friday's 7th race (3:37pm PT) from Betfair Hollywood Park is an Optional Claiming event for fillies and mares traveling one mile on the turf course (rail at 15 feet).

#6 Secret Cove (10-1) has struggled this year but has faced Stakes rivals in 4 of last 5. She won twice last year under today's pilot Gomez and Miller excels with 90+ day layoff runners. The versatile sort is capable of competing with these on her best day and should offer nice value.

#5 In The Stars (5-2) ran into subsequent G2 Bayakoa winner Lady of Fifty on dirt last time. She returns to preferred turf footing and does some of her best work at this distance.

The Plays:

$18 to win #6

$12 Quinella 5-6

No one in that race with any jock on any other horse would come near IN THE STAR'S ..Bets bet of the day..
Gomez was off his mounts for a second straight day due to illness. In the Stars looked good winning this one.
Was there a change a jockey for #6, TS notes Tyler Baze and not Gomez hmmm?
confusing race no consistency to rely on
@likin sparks. I agree that #2 Minds Eyes could be a player for Mike Smith/Shirreffs. I included that one as a Secondary contender at P6 blog. I also considered Plaza De Indias but she is 0-6 in the US this year.
There is a possibility with Gomez they seemed to have chemistry in the past but the layoff and competing against several horses that are poised for victory, if she wins it could be really nice. I may just go across the board with her. Keep an eye on that #2 Smith is on this one for a reason if she's willing.
