Thursday's 6th race (3:06pm PT) from Betfair Hollywood Park is a $30,000 Maiden Claiming event for 2-year-olds dashing six and one-half furlongs on Cushion Track.

#4 Doubledeesonthetee (6-1) finished a wide 6th of 8 behind next out winner Carving in his $80k Maiden Claiming 5f synthetic sprint bow at Del Mar Aug 23. He dropped off the shelf and ended up a troubled 5th as the beaten favorite second time out at Santa Anita Oct 18. Profitable trainer Cerin puts debut rider Bejarano back on and he deserves a chance to rebound at playable odds.

Play Thursday's opening day Betfair Hollyowood Park games at DerbyWars.com.

#5 Salah Champ (8-1) finished a well beaten 4th from the outside post in his dirt sprint debut. He has been stabled here all along and Mitchell excels with second time starters.

#9 The Whole Deal (9-2) is tagged for the first time and also ran in a pair of September G1 races. He is finally realistically spotted and should be competitive versus this type.

The Plays:

$18 to win #4

$3 Exacta 4/5-9 ($6)

$3 Exacta 5-9/4 ($6)

Elegant's and Master Chef's wins surrounded the 6th, so good day anyway.

The 11 was horrible. One of the pains to load even.

Like tv's pick of the 11. Let's see if Proud Bull improves w/blinkers. He's an old fav's relative.

Contenders: #9, 10, 4, 5. Again a very tough race. None seem to be improving and a case can be made for all of the above. Respect the connections of the #4, but performance has been dismal. The #5 also has good connections, but seems to be stretching it for the pick. The #10 is a 1TS with the always dangerous trainer, Josh Litt (he always seems to burn me when I don't bet him!), and the value of the race. The #9 is the class and performance leader of the bunch, and the most likely winner. The choice based on performance would be the #9 The Whole Deal (9/2). Bet to win and take exactas with the #4, 5, and 10...Good luck on a tough race!!!
