Debut of Eblouissante... Spoiler

Hollywood Park's Race 4 is a Maiden Special Weight for Fillies and Mares at 8.5 furlongs.

This race debuts what the thoroughbred community has been talking about for quite a while- Eblouissante. A half sister of Zenyatta, the public will most likely over bet an unproven three year old filly on the synthetic. Personally I am pessimistic that the chances of her being a super horse like Zenyatta is very unlikely. Her workouts look sharp, but I do not wager such horses, and I am going to try and capitalize on this opportunity.

4) Chestnut Moon (4-1)- Huge improvement last race and her recent workouts look like she has learned this game and has the heart to win. Also, her front running race figure may very well be a lone front runner that may runaway from this young competition.

7) Urania (8-1)- Scratch off her last race at Santa Anita's downhill turf and on Del Mar's polytrack. Note, her debut was a sprint on turf at Hollywood Park now switching to a router on the cushion. Also, Garrett Gomez is mounting and I have hit nice overlays before with Gomez. Very sneaky and a good overlay.

$5 Ex. 4,7/2,4,7 =$20

$10 Win 4) Chestnut Moon. (Note- anything below 5/2 I will scratch this bet.)

Longshot:

$10 Win on 7) Urania

If Eblouissante scratches for any reason then I will not bet this race. If she beats me or knocks me off my exotic wager I congratulate her.

Or Dani.

What was the math on that debut Laz? About 6:33 avg. for her 1/16ths from the 3/4 on? Not too sure. She looks like she'll love more distance. Hope she closes into faster fractions as nicely as she did in today's slowish pace.

Bad trip inside the rail and switching lanes at the stretch for 4) Chestnut moon, but managed to get 2nd off 2) Saturday Nite Ride in a nice gamely finish. 7) Urania looked strong until fading around the bend. Almost had a nice hit, but I rather give my $40 than to win $4.80 and $16.80 in the exacta.
