Hi all!

Welcome back to another edition of Horse Racing Preview!  This week's feature comes to us from Arlington Park and that can only mean one thing!  It's time for Arlington Million XXXII!

This is Race 10 from Arlington, set for of course a mile and a quarter on the turf, is restricted to 3-year-olds and up, and carries a purse of one million dollars!

Let's take a look at the field:

Hardest Core  (KY)  20/1

Smoking Sun  (KY)  9/2

Magician  (IRE)  7/5

Finnegans Wake  (KY)  12/1

Up With the Birds  (ON)  6/1

Real Solution  (PA)  5/2

Side Glance  (GB)  8/1

Hardest Core looks like your champion to me!  He won his last race, the Cape Henlopen at Delaware last month by 3, and this race was a mile and a half!  He started in second then when he was sent (to the lead) he kept it!  Same story for his last couple races, but I am most intrigued by his third-from-last start, where he came from 7 down to win at Belmont!  And he's done well at a handful of tracks, so wrap it up, I'm sold!

Nextie!  Smoking Sun seems to be a stalker-type.  (Kinda hard to tell, but based on what the notes say...) Anyway, his last few races he's finished well, and he's been in stakes galore, so he should be well-ready for this one!

Lastie!  Real Solution stalked from 5 down to win his last start at Belmont, the Manhattan, and before that he came from 6 down to run second in the Man O' War.  He has a lot of good races under his belt, and this one looks to be yet another!  Javier Castellano rides again for trainer Chad Brown.

The JayCee Upset Special:  Hardest Core

Well folks!  Million time already!  Hope your summer is going well, mine is!  At any rate, thank you so much for stopping!  Hurry it back next week!  And good luck!

Come like me!

I see you are bloviating again on Laura, travel_vic. Your combination 1st thing that came to mind / Don’t think, Blink / Occam’s Razor??? response of orange didn’t pay off this time and it appears you’ve driven vodkak astray/to drink. The correct answer is RIDERS.

Not trying to taint the tally, BUT… 1 vote for horses, good one vodkak. Wonder what t_v does today when the heavies he’s amongst ask to take a peek at how his HRN ‘seminar’ is going :D

My guess it's the horses looking at one another. After all the riders are merely passengers and they are busy checking out all the hotties in the stands.

Orange is incorrect. Are these questions too CRYPTIC for you?

Orange

Is it the HORSES or the RIDERS that look at one another? Where’s the invisible pace rabbit?
amino998 | 8/17/2014 9:33 AM |  - Re: HORSE RACING PREVIEW
Right icy many of these international contests degrade to European paces of race:LOOK at one another all the way to the mile marker and then run like the dickens there on.
travel_vic | 8/17/2014 8:34 AM |  - Re: HORSE RACING PREVIEW
Or he must be running on turf where the race shape is usually slow/slow/slow/fast/fast/ for this distance, as it was here.

He did exactly what he did last out but a 1/4 mile shorter and a bit faster. This horse consistently runs :23 and change final 1/4s at 10-12f.
