geldedridgling · Overanalyze doesn't have Mr. Prospector or Deputy Minister anywhere in his pedigree so he already has strike 1 and 2, and he doesn't pick up 10 - 12 furlong stamina on the dam side. Maybe with the right trip he can hang on for 4th or 5th but the Belmont is purely a stamina race. · 3 days ago ·

Union Rags won the Belmont due to a good son of Mr. Prospector (Gone West) being his damsire. If he is close to 16-1 he would be a good bet although I doubt if he will be that high in New York. I hope Mike is going to do some genetic testing on Mo for the cancer his sire died from.. if its in mo's genes.. please DO NOT BREED HIM! that is cruel! especially that kind of cancer.. it can be a very painful death!

travel_vic · Only a very few cancinomas have strong genetic predispostion, The gentic basis of cancer is even questionalbe in many of those. Lickily for the equines, we are alloed euthanasia which is sadly, not allowed for gandma or you cousin who is suffering just as much. · 526 days ago ·

If he did, only speculation on my part, it may not have been diagnosed as such because it was a mild case. HorseDynasty · buckpasser, as far as I can tell there seems to be no relation between the two conditions, so fairly slim that Uncle Mo is predisposed to the condition Indian Charlie had, perhaps not impossible though. Hemangiosarcoma in dogs is thought to be hereditary by some since some breeds seem more prone to the condition, but in horses it seems less clear. There is no gentic test that I have come across yet or that the gene(s) responsible if it genetic have been identified. I'll maybe have to look even deeper into the issue. · 525 days ago ·

I am merely curious as to the issues which mainly stems from a discussion I had with my vet, who used to be a racetrack vet in KY, and we discussed this matter because he knew Indian Charlie. He spoke to me about how as you have pointed out horse dynasty that it more common in certain breeds of dogs and in dogs it starts out in the spleen and or liver and attacks the blood vessels. There were LOTS of messages every day from lots of people just wanting to know how he was doing. Every now and then we'd get an update or, better yet, a VIDEO of our boy. I think I made a comment one time about wondering the the WS folk had any idea what they were getting when they had 'MO in the house'. So many fans just love this colt (me too!). We don't agree on many things but this is crucial to the survival of the sport. He didn't look like he was even close to being ready to pull up, while others such as Flat Out and Thirsty did. The bottom half of his pedigree makes me think he will not be hindered by the distance either, Indian Charlie or not. Havre de Grace came in the race with just one Grade 1 race win. Flat Out has never won a Grade 1 race. The second morning line favorite is Stay Thirsty. In this decade, Curlin, Summer Bird, Bernardini, and Mineshaft have all won the race. Blame competed in it. These are all legit Grade I types. And this is a legit grade one race. It is terrible when compared to years when Man O'War, Gallant Fox, War Admiral, Whirlaway, Nashua, Gallant Man, Kelso, Buckpasser, Damascus and others. Just pathetic-just plain pathetic. This race this year is an absolute embarrassment to the memories of the aforementioned champion horses. Last year an overrated allowance horse called Haynesfield won the race.
