rossington · If I'm Todd Pletcher and Mike Repole, I'm over the moon with how well Uncle Mo ran in the King's Bishop at Saratoga today!! Coming off of a 4+ month layoff, and fighting a liver disease that could have killed him besides, you just can't ask for or realistically expect any better than Mo put forth today!! If Mike Lepore is smart, he'll have Todd Pletcher point Uncle Mo toward the Breeders Cup Dirt Mile and Stay Thirsty toward the Breeders Cup Classic. That way, he'd have one of the top horses in both of those divisions come time for the Breeders Cup in November. JMO. · 631 days ago ·

DeadHeat · I would aim for sprints the rest of this season. Next year he can be propperly prepped for longer. I think the Vosburgh and BCS would be awesome. Had this race been six furlongs he would have won, his split for that disntace was 1.09.21, the same as his maiden. That distance, I think may be too short for Caleb, plus we would see him, the Factor and Big Drama all line up in an awesome race. I am not saying he cannot get longer, in fact I think he can and dominate. Right now I think it would just be the smarter thing to do is to go to the Sprint. · 630 days ago ·

ArturoLaguna · Subsequent to UM"S shocking defeat in the Wood and the revelation that he had a gi tract infection, I posted on this blog that the next progression will be that UM will be unable to run in the Kentucky. Based on my own experience as a former owner this kind of malady is debilitating to an equine athlete and takes time to heal. Even the great Nijinsky succumbed to an intestinal malady which later turned out to be ringworms and ran poorly in a prior race. I also posted that the owner will not run unless he was more than 110 % certainty that Uncle MO can win if he were to run in order to protect his value as a stallion prospect. Don't be surprised if he next major announcement is that he will be prematurely retired. I thank the racing gods for veering me away from UM in the futures. I ended up with Soldat, ArchArchArch and that other Repole horse!!! · 744 days ago ·

arazi · Mike, that pretty much sums it up. Putting this in more perspective: The other 9 horses: 4 broke maidens in Maiden Claimers, 4 in Maiden Specials, 1 in a NY Maiden Special. Other than these maiden wins, the other 9 horses have only 7 wins to their credit. Two starter allowances, three allowances, one open stake and one NY stake. · 773 days ago ·

Based on the history and stats since the start of the BC I believe that only Street Sense has been the winner of the BC Juvenile and then came back and won the Kentucky Derby.
