I suspect this is the horse referred to in the PBS thoroughbred doc by the guy who says, sold for $$$$, couldn't run, and then, couldn't even breed.

If I remember correctly he finished second to Impressive in a 6 furlong race. Impressive was a stablemate of Buckpasser and a fellow three year old. He ended up being the Champion Sprinter that year and was the pacesetter for Buckpasser's WR mile at Arlington Park.

Right on Footlick. Impressive won the 7-furlong allowance race timed in 1.21.4 by 4 ½ lengths in Buckpasser’s first race in four months. At one point in that race Buckpasser was 14 lengths off the lead and was still 12 lengths behind after a half mile. Of course they didn’t realize that that defeat would be his only loss in 14 races that year. It is also interesting to note that Buckpasser would run and win the 9F Everglades in 1.47.4 just nine days later and 8 days after that win the Flamingo in one of the most phenomenal performances by any horse. He missed the TC races because of that hoof injury but defeated the Derby-Preakness winner Kauai King and the Belmont winner Amberoid later that year so it is quite possible that if he had remained healthy he would have won the TC. Could he have defeated the eventual sprint champion Impressive if they really wanted to win that first race of 1966? I think so. The year before he defeated Impressive easily in the 6 1/2F Hopeful.

yes, Brian. Anybody who saw him could not forget him. And Baeza chose Graustark over Buckpasser, I believe. I know he was on record saying Graustark was the best horse he ever rode.
