The payoff for War Emblem and Proud Citizen was $1,300.80; the Preakness had 13 starters. That would be 156 combinations(13x12) X $2=$312 bet. The payoff for War Emblem and Magic Weisner was $327; the Belmont had 11 starters. That would be 110 combinations(11x10) X $2=$220 bet. Mike in SB · The new fresh horses don't do well in the Preakness, since the mid 1980's only three horses have won the Preakness that didn't run in the Derby, and one was Rachel who ran in the Oaks and another was Bernardini who won when Barbaro was injured. The main reason is probably that the best 3 year olds are pointed to the Derby but I also believe that, as you mentioned in an earlier blog, the horses coming out of the Derby have been trained to be at their best in early May and two week later will still be in top form. If Orb loses the Preakness I believe it will be to a horse who ran in the Derby. · 18 days ago ·

Expect him to finish near last again. One horse you didn't mention is Red Bullet. Govenor Charlie may be this year's Red Bullet. As they say "hindsight is 20/20" but I can't help but think he would have been capable of doing the same from PP 14 in the Risen Star. If he didn't scratch that race and opt for the Texas Heritage Stakes maybe he would be running in the 139th KyDerby. rafirox · Sysonby. Your first post. I agree with you. I know I partly bring part of it to myself. It is not intentional, but rather it is my personality (brag when I win, cry when I lose) jk :). Your second post. I can't disagree with him either. It's not just him, but several people who get bullied. It is disgusting, to even a pro like himself, that he can find the community to be unwelcoming. You'd think if people actually cared about the sport, and learning, they'd love to have such a professional horsemen like him on the site. I urged him to join the site, and offer insight on the Derby training, but he spent two days and told me "i can't take it no more."... Also, for his sake, I encouraged him to get off the site. If people don't want or like his insight? Too bad for them. I still have it, as do others, over email. I agree about the several individuals present who are truly intriguied by the sport, are willing to learn more, and willing to distiributue what they know. I love reading Buckpasser, LAZ, Goblin, yourself, Lisa, Amino, Dressage, etc, etc. I love the insight, especially since some on here are much more knowledgable than me, and they teach me. If I were as knowledgable as Carlos, I would have gotten out by now. He knows enough to be able to get off, I need the info that Buckpasser, LAZ, et hand out on a daily basis. I fully support his dicision, but I would've liked him to stay longer- and his immediate departure shows how ugly we are as a community. · 30 days ago ·
