Dutch Betting
I took a break from his forum a couple weeks ago and used my free time to Build a Customize Dutch Betting Calculator. I know this tools is all over the internet and that is why I build a Windows Desktop version for anyone that is interested. If you want to give it a try, sent me an email to: zxswordxz@hotmail.com and I'll send you a link to download it. If you need to make changes to better suit your needs, I will be more than will to add/remove modules.

ZX, if you check the long Orb thread, I read your comment too late. I didn't think you should take a break. It was a silly quarrel. Glad you're back.

Hi Mary..Glad to be back. I read the Orb thread. I really appreciate that you didn't take my comment toward you seriously. I needed to take that timeout for myself because of my upbringing to show respect towards woman(men is a whole different approach..lol). That comment really didn't justify my behavior as a person. Thanks.

The MAJOR problem with a Dutch bet calucaltor (as I have used one for quite awhile) is that if you do not have it directly connected to the odds board for the last multiple changes the board invariably goes through late, you will always bet incorrect ratios. YOu have to have options available, already worked out, and make a calucated guess as to how the final odds will be otherwise your dutch can be way off. We are experimenting with a new idea that, on the surface sounds nuts, but betting into the morning line and not the up to the minute line. I have not quite figured the logic out as of yet, and will let you know once I do understand as it is yet another way to go the opposite way of the crowd.

travel_vic..As you might already figure it out, I'm not a gambler so my knowledge is not up to par. Since I have no API(live feed) to any horse racing odds system, I built this calculator to allow the user to input the current odds which give them some sort of idea on their betting spread. You're welcome try it and provide some feedbacks on how to enhance and make it more work more efficiently. I'll post the download link below for everyone. You can provide me all your feedbacks to the above email address if you wish to do so.

Thanks, but what I already mentioned mine is tied to the odds borad via BRIS. This is a great way to understand learn things like booking points (read the morning line article at the American Quarter Horse Association...http://www.aqha.com/Racing/Content-Pages/Racing-and-Wagering/Q-Racing-Aces-and-Handicapping-Information/The-Morning-Line.aspx and you can get a better understanding about how much of the pool you can cover and still win.....Winning, long term, means you have to conquer the others side of the parimutuel equation: WAGER CREATION.

like a HEDGE FUND Does: hedge is an investment position intended to offset potential losses/gains that may be incurred by a companion investment. In simple language, a hedge is used to reduce any substantial losses/gains suffered by an individual or an organization. Often in covering a race, one has to expect that ONE of the possibilites on the return or investment (a low priced logical horse) will be UST enough or slightly LESS than enough to cover the entire bankroll risked, BUT the psychological positivity garnered in collecting will far outreach any minor loss. It is a wager, a bet, and you really don't know the outcome, so you protect your session bankroll by hedging when necessary.

A Dutch, on the other hand is just creating your own race entry. You have seen races where there is a 1 and 1A, well you are doing that with let's say the 2 5 9 as YOUR entry and you just bet in a ration so that no matter who wins, you win money.

So, hedging might be betting a favorite if one also bets a longer shot? There's also narrowing down the contenders correctly so that one of the dutches is a winner?

You find three contenders that stand out. WHEN you know or think you are close enough to post to suggest what closing odds are, you bet EACH in a ratio of base bet so that no matter which wins YOU make money.

UNLESS you can adequately estimate the proper ratio, BASED on the CURRENT ODDS at about 45 seconds to post, this may not work for you.

@TV..Most betting company have their own database tie into live feed. This was just a tool to help the amateur like myself understand it, test it out without actually betting.

Any type of wager depends on ones goal, and should be used that way to achieve it. When I use DB my goal is to make the most money possible from the wager and still insure a profit if I win, even if my primary choice loses. I've only heard of one pari mutual race that was ever run, where all the participants could be bet to win, without any possibility of losing, which is the ultimate goal of DB. However we as humans improvise and do the bet we can with what we have to work with. In last years BCC for instance, having determined the favorite would not hit the board, I could have wagered on many horses and made a good profit. I didn't do that. I took my top two choices and made a win bet at a 2/1 ratio, with my primary choice on top. With both going off at approximately 10/1 my wager ratio should have been even on both horses. That however was not consistent with my goal, thus the 2/1 ratio. The secondary part of the ratio hit meaning theoretically I did it wrong. However that even wager conflicted with my goal, thus from my perspective it was right. A DB wager need not only encompass win/place/show/ wagering. There is no reason it shouldn't be incorporated into exactas, trifectas, and supers. Which is exactly what I did with the place horse who I didn't have in the win wager, but had in my tri and super bets. If I had wagered according to what a calculator shows me, my wager should have been even on my top three choices, which was safer, but again it wasn't consistent with my goal.

I find that horses determined to probably finish underneath do NOT follow the same gudielines as the winners no more than half the time....Closers for afar in sprints and backing up pace types in routes are more likely.
