medlocke · Almost without failure. A horse's biggest and best improvement of their career come's from their 3yr.old season to their 4yr.old season. He was by no means disgraced in this year's Breeders Cup Mile. But I really believe, if he continues to race on as a 4yr.old, that Sidney's Candy will bigger, stronger, and faster during the 2011 season. An improvement big enough that if he's pointed toward the 2011 Breeders Cup Mile? He could be a much bigger threat to dethroning Goldikova than he was this time around. JMO. · 876 days ago ·

cugel the clever · It's hilarious to see how people, who should know better, jump on a horse's bandwagon and make unrealistic exptraplolations based on 1 race. Sidney's jockey said it best: “He’s a really good horse and he likes to run free and easy,”. Please note, GOOD horse, not "great" horse. Horses like Zenyatta and Goldikova have establised a career body of work which qualifies them as GREAT horses. They dazzle against weak competition and they step up their game to dazzle against strong competition. The problem with horses like Sidney's Candy and Quality Road is that they dazzle against weak competition and set track records; but when faced against truly formidable opponents, they fold up their tents and fade into the background. medlocke · What an awesome display put forth by Sidney's Candy in his first lifetime start on turf. Setting a new Del-Mar course record, and completely destroying the La Jolla Handicap field. Sidney's Candy and Lookin at Lucky are clearly the two best 3yr.old colt's in America. By Far!! Sidney's Candy ran the 1-1/16th of the La Jolla Handicap like he was in a 6 furlong sprint race. And still looked like he had plenty left after crossing the wire. I'd like to see Sidney's Candy stretched on out another 3/16th of a mile over the turf. To see if he can handle a 1-1/2 on turf? Because if Sidney's Candy can get a 1-1/2 on turf, and win this easily in doing so? America may have a real live wire horse for this year's Breeders Cup Turf. If Gio Ponti goes to the B.C. Sidney will be first time: dirt, hot pace, contested pace and mile and a quarter. In last year's Derby, I would have bet him at 8-1. This year, I wouldn't bet him at 30-1. · 1127 days ago ·
