Brushwood Stable in Malvern, Pennsylvania, has an outstanding reputation among the nation's premier equine owners and breeders. Primarily a thoroughbred racing and breeding operation, Brushwood maintains a stable of thoroughbreds with various trainers throughout the country. Brushwood regularly consigns yearlings to the major sales in Kentucky and New York. Brushwood championed 1985 Belmont Stakes Crème Fraiche, who was the only gelding to win this race. Crème Fraiche was trained by Woody Stephens. His time of 2:27 was the second fastest since Secretariat's 2:24 in 1973. In his career, Crème Fraiche won 17 of 64 starts, which included back-to-back victories of the 1986 and 1987 Jockey Club Gold Cup. He finished his racing career with more than $4 million in earnings. Brushwood also owned and raced the 2000 Martell English Grand National winner Papillon. Brushwood's owner is one of only 9 American Owners to ever win the historic race, which originating in 1839. The Brushwood operation has also bred such greats as; High Yield, Bernstein, Hard Spun, Russian Rythm, Perfect Performance, etc. Brushwood Stable is also committed to philanthropic activities and has consistently sponsored the annual Handicapped Riders Division of the Devon Horse Show at the Thorncroft Equestrian Center. Other Major accomplishments include: First win over fences in the Tom Roby Steeplechase with Tip's Eve in 1977 Won the American Grand National in Charlottesville with McAdam in 1984 Won the Belmont Stakes in 1985 with Crème Fraiche Won the Pennsylvania Hunt Cup and the New Jersey Hunt Cup in 1986 with Tom Miller Won the National Hunt Steeplechase at Radnor with Tostadero, in 1989 Won the Thomas Stokes Memorial Challenge Cup at Radnor with Turkmaster in 1996 Won the Martell English Grand National with Papillon in 2000 Won the Jersey Stakes at Royal Ascot with Jeremy in 2006 Won the Spinster Stakes with Mushka in 2009
