In the derby I heard your name being call 4 time at the top of the stretch and as I look up it was as if you had rollerstake on and here come Ord running like he had a pair of BOOTs on......We all have our DAY..I don't think you ever lost by 3 length or more . you had some weird loses, 4month lay off, last out of the gate, then mud in the derby what kind of horse are you gonna turn out to be

tmallios1 · the ogden phipps is a very deep and contentious field.it pits to together many of the top older fillies in the land.one thing about the race sticks out at me.johnny valasquez(#1 go to jock forpletcher) has jumped off of authenticity and has taken the mount on believe you can.the odd thing is the obvious.he jumps off a pletcher horse,especially one that beat believe you can the last time they met.personally,taking the trainer angle away.i agree with johnny vs' decision,authenticity was coming off 2 super works,especially in one where she dominated Verrazano.also on oaks day .the track played huge inside speed.johnny took full advantage by gunning her and holding off the competition at the wire.with more of a pace expected,i believe johnny is not only correctly handicapping this race,but also looking down the line as BYC has a brighter future than authenticity. · 13 hours ago ·

Someone wrote Orb ''deserves rest.'' Heck, these horses are so pampered and lightly-raced they need toughening up not more rest. Years ago when 3-year-olds raced much more frequently at 2 and 3 they remained healthy through their 4-and even 5-yeard old racing years.

tmallios1 · mike.all i know about lasix is that it is a dieretic that prevents horses from bleeding.i am not a vet or claim to be.as a matter of fact i have followed this game for a long time,never got invoved with the medication issues.can you explain to me at least how lasix prvents horses from running more often as a hansicapper and someone who consults trainers.i try to tell them to try to give their horses 4 to 5 weeks in between starts.they need x amount of time to recover from the race.then they have to build up again.i was once told by a vet who many consider the best in america.i will not mention his name.he said that because of the thorobted pounding his legs into the ground at such force and speed,that is what they must recover from.the soreness.on the same token,harness horses can run back every week.the stride is not as forceful.but i never heard the lasix angle.please,i am very interested to know its' effect. · 11 hours ago ·

tmallios1 · harold you mention orb and someone stating that he needs are rest.do not know what your expertise is in making a statement he does not.are you familiar with his past performances.he started his career on AUG. 19th.,to date roughly 10 months later he has raced 9 times.almost an average of 1 race per month.he has done that at different venues at different states.to boot,prior to his making his debut,he was probably in training for at least 2 months.with the jogs,the gallops and the works (including schooling).this poor horse has not had a breather in almost 1 year.guess what? he is only 3 years old.i am sure there are different schools of thought as to how often a horse should run.i am not smart enough to tell you which thought is correct.i am using common sense.so assuming he runs in the belmont.what next.easy. get him ready for the jim dandy,the travers,the gold cup and then the breeders cup.to get a horse ready for a race,do you have a clue how long it takes to really get them to perform at maximum levels.so you want to lay him up after the belmont.lets give him only 5 weeks off.that puts us into the 2nd week of july.the jim dandy is the prep ffor the travers.run 1rst week in august.so lets run a short and tired horse.after all it is a prep for arce 4 weeks later.please tell me.when is this poor horse going to get some R &R. probably Nov. and Dec. ,because knowing guys like you,we have to get him a prep so he can run in the dubai cup next year. · 10 hours ago ·

tmallios1 · kay.1 other question.you mentioned the negatives.what happens if they ban lasix.most horses are bleeders.let me give you a horse.alysheba.his worst race among the triple crown was the belmont.back then lasix was outlawed in N.Y.,he ran big in kent,md. where lasix was allowed.he flopped in N.Y.then he came back and ran a great race in the haskell in N.J. a lasix state then.these horses put a lot of strain on themselves.the gentleman earlier wants them to run more.without the help of lasix and much more exertion.does not that increase the chances for a horse to bleed.is there any other preventive medicine for bleeders without that many negative side effects.if not ,then many of these champions we have seen throughout the years may never of even attempted racing. · 9 hours ago ·

Mary Z. · tmallios, Alysheba's trainer, Mr.Van Berg did not blame Alysheba's loss in the Belmont on the lack of Lasix and the colt ran in the Haskell without the drug, possibly because the owners did not want the perception that the Belmont loss was due to not being allowed Lasix. Have you ever wondered this, with over 90% of racing Thoroughbreds on Lasix, the "bleeders" bleed through Lasix use? Could that be because Lasix is not intended to stop bleeding? Mike in SB I think has it right as far as stakes horses expected to run at that level are concerned. Claiming horses still run a bit more often than stakes horses. As you said, the drugs' intended purpose is as a strong diuretic. Kay's comments are also correct. Horses used to be denied water before races. Not sure of today's practice, but the Lasix is given with the effect of weight loss through urination. Denying water is remedied by providing water. I can't tell you the precise amount of time for the recovery from the effects of an injection of Lasix(Salix). Here's one link to the Alysheba comments. Easily google-able for others. If interested I can find the link for a very good set of interviews of trainers and an owner talking about the Lasix subject. Sysonby · among the substances lasix depletes in the horse's system is calcium. In studies, the horse has been shown to have higher levels of calcium in their urine normal 72 hours after they received lasix. It could be longer yet, I don't the study looked past 72 hours. At the same time, it was found not surprisingly that the horse's calcium level were lower. I have read that this doesn't cause bone thinning, although I am somewhat skeptical. When calcium levels in the muscles are low, it is taken out of the bones to make up the difference. However, what I think contributes to the longer period for a horse to be race fit after lasix is that calcium is a crucial element in muscle contraction. Until the horse has recovered from the calcium loss, they are not going to train well, particularly for heavy works or breezes. · 5 hours ago ·

tmallios1 · there is no arguing that Flat Out and Cross Traffic are theones getting the attention.after all,coming off their thrilling recent matchup it should be a no brainer.many quality horses will insure lively payouts if the favorites falter.one that i think is very live to win is Sahara Sky.he is stretching out to a mile .being a son of Pleasant Tap, this should be a positive move more than a negative.in his last race at 7F,he fell back much farther than he should have.the fact that the track was playing huge inside speed only makes his race alot better than it already looks.he altered course and came flying on the worst part of the track.if you want evidence of the track.go back and look at the replay of the gazelle run a coule of races earlier.princess sylmar hooked close hatches on an outside trip.in midstretch it looked as though she would go by her.hatches caught a 2nd wind and rode the conveyer belt home.we all know what happened the next time they ran.the princess rewarded the track bias followers very generously in the Oaks.do not for one second miss out on the encore by Sahara Sky. good luck in whoever you ddecide to play. · 13 hours ago ·

They liked how he ran in NY, traveled well, stays in a friend of the friend's barn. Big Guy likes how Sahara Sky always tries.
