No works, last 10 days, per Equibase. His half brother goes in today's 4th, at DMR.
Has been retired and will be sold at Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale
So another very bad breakdown on the turf track at Del Mar today? The filly Serious might have to be euthanized (vets are recommending it, owners are trying to save her). This is a scary situation, with so many breakdowns on the new surface. What is even more frightening is that I do not think they have a clue as to what is going on and why so many horses are getting hurt and having to be euthanized. I do not think you could do or give me anything to risk running a horse on that turf track this summer. http://www.paulickreport.com/news/the-biz/turf-troubles-continue-at-del-mar-races-switched-to-polytrack-through-weekend/

Rachel has a full sister Samantha Nicole racing Aug 1 at Saratoga race 3. This will be her second start, she finished 2nd in her only other start. She looks very good to me. Good luck Samantha. jlp
  • travel_vic · evaluate the INDIVIDUAL before you not their brother or sister or you will fall prey (as many suckers do) to this fallacy that two of the same parents are going to be ANYTHING alike. I can give you dozens of full siblings to Ribot, Norther Dancer, Spend A Buck, Alysheba and Secretariat who could not beat "a fat man DOWN a hill" as the expression goes. · 2 hours ago
Second in her debut at Fair Grounds in February, Samantha Nicole, full sister of Rachel Alexandra, makes career start #2 in today's 3rd race at Saratoga.
I do not believe I have posted on her Haskell loss, so here's my observation- she got beat. Outrun. Brought back down to earth. I like this filly, and hope they haven't ruined her, but I've been saying for weeks that SHE ISN'T RACHEL. I stand by that opinion. She probably had 3yo filly honors wrapped up. There was no need to face the boys.

Tackleberry has not run in a couple of years, but has been working out regularly at Gulfstream. It will be interesting to see where he races next.
Tries a 1 1/16th turf allowance @ Del Mar Sunday.

In Race 2 (opt. claim) on Sunday at Del Mar.
Jimmy Powell i am thrown for a loop by not only you,but all other Curlinittes on the site. Today at Delaware in the 7th race,Liza Doolittle Day and Une Cherise ran 1/2 in the race. What is the relationship you ask?????? They were both first time fillies sired by Curlin. I thought alarms go off everytime a Curlin wins(D)
  • Eventer1999 · "Curlinites"? Just because they like Curlin and are following his stud career, which has been quite successful thus far, doesn't mean they are some deranged Curlin fans. I found the above post to be well-meaning but slightly offensive. · 13 hours ago

Trainer Tom Proctor just told me that the Grade 1 King's Bishop at Saratoga could be the target for impressive allowance winner, Myositis Dan.
Ziconic Conformation shot. He is thick. :) http://www.zenyatta.com/news/a-little-ziconic-update
Missunited was immediately checked out by the vet post-race after her win in today's G3 Lilly Langtry Stakes at Goodwood, and her connections have confirmed she suffered an injury to her suspensory and has been retired to broodmare status now in Ireland. As soon as she crossed the line, jockey Jim Crowley immediately dismounted her and did a great job of looking after Missunited the way a jockey should. Crowley said Missunited was pretty sore after the race but was walking much better later in the evening, so that's good news. Missunited's run today at Goodwood was one of the gamest and gutsiest performances I've seen from any horse, male or female, in a long time. In the final 200/250 meters of the Lillie Langtry Stakes, Missunited had Arabian Comet, Waila, and Epsom Oaks winner Talent all 3 bearing down and taking dead aim at her and she absolutely refused to let any of the 3 pass her. It was pure bravado at it's best. I hate we won't get to see Missunited race again, but she couldn't possibly have ended her career with a more compelling effort than she did today at Goodwood.
This is an interesting development. I wonder if the Arc will still be a target for them?

  • ILuvTurfRacing · I'm still bummed they decided to bypass the King George with Australia myself. I think he looks like 12f is his best trip. I think he's more likely to get turned over in the Juddmonte International at York over 10-1/2f or the Irish Champion Stakes at Leopardstown over 10f than he would be in the King George. @zatt, as for the Australia vs. Sea The Moon showdown, Sea The Moon is clearly an up and comer but hasn't raced outside of Germany yet. The field he beat in the German Derby was by far the toughest he's faced yet and frankly speaking, I didn't see anything in that field to include Sea The Moon capable of beating Australia or Epsom Oaks winner Taghrooda for that matter, IMO. · 21 days ago

Lavender Road was euthanized after breaking her neck from a fall after suffering heatstroke.
Is there any video footage of this race available anywhere?
I think a good choice too. Really like Wildcat Red!
entered MTO in a 5 1/2 furlong turf sprint at Monmouth. Puzzling, as why would they run him on an off track if the race comes off the turf. I would not think they would run him over a bad racetrack at 5 1/2. It might be an easier spot than the allowance at Saratoga..but it is still confusing to me as to surface and distance.
Amino there is a great hunch bet at Saratoga on Saturday in the 3rd race. Where so many firsters are running without the Lasix. Maker/Castellano combo have a horse named Firespike.

Amino did you see the 1rst at Del Mar. This was the information horse i had on the undercard on Derby Day when he won by about 15 lengths. Obvious he has his issues. But take a look at the race if you missed it. Espi should return any payments for riding. This guy won on his own,AS HE PLEASED. This is a monster awaiting a stakes race.
