Ok,no problem in stating was wrong about Baffert NEVER winning another Derby. Like AP and Dortmund, just don't like the trainer. Having said that, also posted yesterday it would be either Firing Line or Frosted winning Derby. Firing Line second,Frosted fourth. Not bad! Never had any doubt the two I picked are good horses. At least was on point regarding Pletchers horses.
I guess ...but the track bias was super fast on dirt ...all the races were fast ...noone came from off the pace yesterday on the dirt
Bayern has come out of his last place finish in the Churchill Downs Stakes in good shape. Bob Baffert tells DRF's Nicole Russo that Bayern will be pointed to the G1 Met Mile June 6th for his next start. Baffert said, "They're all allowed a bad race". According to DRF
his races are terribly slow ...and has beaten nobodies

  • tmallios via Disqus · Slow by whos' standards. In his return,he ran a speed figure that will win any 3yo sprint race this year. Add to it that he did it under a complate stranglehold. · 6 days ago

Bold Conquest will make his next start in the Sir Barton Stakes at Pimlico on May 15th. According to DRF
4th place finisher Frosted has come out of the race in good shape. Kiaran McLaughlin tells DRF's Jay Privman that Frosted will ship back to New York tomorrow and said that the Preakness is "very doubtful", but will talk to the owners before making a plan for his next start, which likely might be the Belmont Stakes. According to DRF
Kentucky Derby 3rd place finisher Dortmund has come out of the race in good shape. Bob Baffert tells DRF's David Grening that there is a chance that Dortmund will go in the Preakness. He will talk to owner Kaleem Shah before he makes a decision. According to DRF
Kentucky Derby runner up Firing Line has come out of the race in good shape. Simon Callaghan tells DRF's Jay Privman that Firing Line will likely make his next start in the Preakness in two weeks. It all depends on how he looks in a few days, but more likely he will go. According to DRF
So, now that dortmund did not win, people are calling this derby on of the worst in years? REALLY? cause thats not what you thought before.
  • DDAmasa via Disqus · Doesn't the race have to be run before people can decide how exciting it was? I'm happy for AP who ran a nice race but am disappointed overall. Considering the talent in this field, what happened to them? Some of the best horses never really fired. Firing Line being the one exception along with AP. · 2 hours ago
  • slewcrew7778 · 'Thoughts' are usually not as accurate as in your face after the facts. We see the same thing year after year. Pharoah is a good horse. Good enough to beat this bunch. But I'm pretty sure the Seattle Slew 'hype' has been laid to rest. · 2 hours ago
i loved this derby it made me feel the need to ride a horse
American Phaorah earned a 105 Beyer Speed figure for his victory yesterday in the Kentucky Derby.
Able Friend has done it again!! He wins the Champions Mile at Hong Kong with devastating ease. Now, this could set up a possible trip to Royal Ascot for the World's Highest ranked horse.
SUCKER BET.....ran like he was supposed to run. Not some nonsense you all wanted to read into the horse. I told you " You don't have to come up with all that stuff for American Pharoah, or Carpe Diem, or Dortmund, or Firing Line. You know why? Because they have legitimate speed.".... I gave you the triple!!!! Do me a favor and shut up now.

  • slewcrew7778 · Legitimate speed???...you MORON! Look at the fractions and final time of the Derby that your superior horses were life and death to run. Let's hear your excuses. Oh, and by the way, where did Carpe Diem finish?...Oh yeah, 2 lengths BEHIND Mubtahiij along with 10 others. Maybe now you will do us a favor and SHUT UP!... · 3 hours ago
When he made a comeback in the Preakness he could have a better chance for Place and Show. He breezed in the final furlongs but it take to long for him. The Preakness Stakes is a really good race for Mubtaahij
Why all the hate on Espinoza? He ran from post 18? I was more shocked at Garcia who seemed to have the perfect trip but got into a duel with Firing Line early. I thought Espinoza let Firing Line and Dortmund wear each other out then made his move. At least that's how it looked to me.
  • Brian Shaw via Disqus · Exactly how it happened. I wasn't expecting and didn't want Dortmund on the lead. I thought Materiality was going to be on the lead. · 9 hours ago
  • Kevin Kelly via Disqus · Where have you been? American Pharoah came out of the 16th post when El Kabeir and International Star both scratched. "Why all the hate on Espinoza?" Espinoza ran American Pharoah five wide (on the outside) much of the race. In doing so AF had to burn more energy, energy he would need to finish 1st. Espinoza didn't even try to get the horse in a less taxing position. American Pharoah should've won the race by 4 to 5 lengths. · 5 hours ago
Forget about the hate on Victor, he rode a decent race. What should really concern AP fans is how average this Derby was. Slow early, middle and late fractions on a track playing pretty fast. The top 3 crawled home in almost 27 seconds and the track wasn't that slow. AP looks like he wants no part at all of 1 1/2. No TC this year. Stop the hype machine. :-)
  • California Dragon via Disqus · He never was in a fight before and Firing Line is a Warrior in the home stretch. Both battled well but American Pharoah was the better one. I don't know if there's a chance for Triple Crown victory for AP but he proves that he can go to front and walk without any challengers but he can fight as well for the lead, going a little bit back but than come back to win. I really love this creature. · 5 hours ago
great Kentucky Derby win.
What a bust. If he hitchhiked his way here I'll pay his way back.
