Reigning leading sire Tapit, who stands at Gainesway Farm in Lexington, Ky., has broken his own single-season progeny earnings record for a North American stallion. Through Nov. 29, Tapit's 2015 earnings stand at $17,853,584, leading Medaglia d'Oro by more than $5 million on the general sire list. Tapit finished his record-setting 2014 season with $16,813,536 in earnings, shattering the previous single-season mark of $14,358,570 established by Smart Strike in 2007. Tapit will stand for $300,000 in 2016, the highest fee in North America and the same fee as he had this year. Article on DRF

  • cugel the clever · I think it's between Liams Map and Effinex. I would give it to Effinex if it were my vote because of his solid record at classic distances and his run in the BCC where he proved he was clearly second best to AP, but I think the voters will give a lot of weight to a Breeders Cup Day victory and give it to Liams Map. · 14 hours ago
  • Pebbles via Disqus · Really? I will grant you that Effinex's win in the Clark was more impressive than Tonalist's in the Cigar Mile (though Tonalist's win looked very good and was quite impressive in its own right) given that the best horses in the field performed better than the best horses in the Cigar Mile. However, the notion that a horse with a 2nd in the BC Classic by widening lengths, and a win in the G2 Suburban and G3 Excelsior has had a better performance than either Honor Code or Tonalist is misplaced. · 2 hours ago
hey jbrynes I knew American pharoah was gonna be special and win the triple crown before he even raced, ohh wait no I didnt.
  • Jbyrnes1 · Is this an insult, because if it is, read the facts, I didn't say he was gonna win the Triple Crown, I said he was special, get you facts right pal. · 4 hours ago
WOW!! Conquest Big E dominates!!! Another good horse to watch in 2016. Loved his maiden win and thought he had a troubled trip in the Juvenile. Good horse and he looked great today.
  • HideousZippleback via Disqus · Yes yes yes! Super happy he won! And won nicely too! He sure likes those off tracks that is for sure! · 1 day ago
  • blueyedhusky · Didn't see any trouble for him in the BCJ,. · 6 hours ago
Red Vine, a stakes winner who has placed in three graded stakes, including the grade I Pacific Classic this summer, will be offered at the Fasig Tipton November Sale as a racing / stallion prospect. The son of Candy Ride is to be consigned by Brookdale Sales, agent for Jon and Sarah Kelly and Don and Joan Cimpl. Article on Bloodhorse
He finished 3rd in the Native Diver (race results ^^)? Preliminary BSF of 103

Definitely looking the derby fav at this point
  • Ferrisjso26 · I would say it's between him and Swipe but seeing as Swipe hasn't actually won anything yet I'd have to go with this colt. · 9 hours ago
Nice ride Mike Smith!
Now that I've seen what horse choking looks like with Martin Pedroza and Private Zone, was Victor Espinoza choking American Pharoah a little bit during the middle stretch of the Belmont Stakes (watching the video, it looked as if he was being held a lot tighter than the other horses and his head was arching more than others too during that stretch)?
Curlin's Fox was terrible. She can win in 1:33 but gets a bit of pressure and folds to come last in 1:35. She's not classy enough.
  • SnidgetAsphodel via Disqus · Or, ya know, she bled as she is prone to do. Calling a horse terrible... you are so classy. SMH · 12 hours ago
I harbor extremely strong doubts that Nyquist will ever come close to staying 10 furlongs. Uncle Mo never won past 8 and a half. Even 9 could be a bit too much to ask of Nyquist. And you can forget about a Triple Crown for him. He's never powering through 12. I think Songbird has the best chance of winning the Kentucky Derby of any 2 year old at the moment, and I really don't think it's all that close, either. I'd put Swipe 2nd behind her. If Songbird keeps dominating in the lead up to the Triple Crown series, I very much hope her connections reconsider and run her against the boys. As of now, she's better than any of them.
  • jrem1 · I'd like to see her go for the Derby too. Swipe seems to have some potential. Do you think that Exaggerator can be a factor in the Triple Crown races for 2016? · 16 hours ago
  • syddiggers via Disqus · Songbird won't be getting any soft runs in the lead in the Derby though. · 12 hours ago
Anytime I see a curlin on turf go to the front I know the result. Horrific
  • Goblin · I'm wondering if she had another bleeding episode. It didn't appear that the jockey was urging her much, if at all, after she began to fall back. I re-watched the race and looked for commentary on DRF twitter, but couldn't find anything specific. (She had a published history of bleeding after the China Doll.) · 14 hours ago
  • Jay Harrison via Disqus · Not necessarily horrific. Earlier in the summer she went right to the front and aired in 133 flat at Del Mar. Mind you that was against 3 year olds, so maybe these simply outclassed her or she could have bled because she hit the wall at right about 3/4's. She dropped out to quickly. · 13 hours ago
Out for a few months with a slightly torn suspensory sustained in her Goldikova victory
Happy Retirement
May not have won but still the Champ
Inspector Lynley looking very handsome before the fourth race at Aqueduct yesterday.
