McCracken/Looking at Lee/AD/Girvin/Tapwrit
Songbird arrives in NY for the Personal Ensign. She looked incredible.
On the Racing Post podcast discussion of the Juddmonte International at York the commentators were asked if Winx would fit in this race. Their opinion was she might actually be the favorite. Considering Barney Roy, Churchill and Ulysses are in the field that is high praise indeed.
I'm not entirely sold on Tapwrit just yet. As evidence of the Travers prep races, that was a really weak Belmont field and he was one of the few bred for the distance (ultimately why he won imo). In the case of West Coast, I'm not understanding the oddsmaker's choice. He beat a mediocre field in a G3 and gets 4-1 while Good Samaritan romps in the JD and gets 5-1. My picks for the race are as follows in no order: Good Samaritan, Irap, Girvin, McCraken
For all these comments on here..Do you even realize that Collected during his 4 race win streak now that his numbers are just as good or on par or even slighty better than Arrogates during Arrogates streak?..Everyone wants to refuse this fact and just treat Collected like some "BUM" cause the races he won (Destroyed) didnt have a Grade 1 "title"..you gonna tell me if Arrogate ran in the precisionist he would have won by "14" lengths? (without Collected in the race)...Collected dont know the title of races hes in..Collected looked like a legit Grade 1 horse to me during his 3 race win streak, and thats why i picked him over Arrogate in the Pacific..btw Del Mar racing surface is a mirror of SA track where Arrogate ate up for breakfast..Some slight moisture difference at times, But basically IDENTICAL racing surfaces..So i doubt its the track..The San diego didnt look like he didnt like the track..it looked like he just DID NOT want to run period!..Why didnt he run the same way in the pacific as he did in the san diego if he hates the track and cant run on it?..Arrogate is one of the obvious choices in the BCC if he runs..But its time we give other horses some respect..they earned it ( i know this is Arrogates page )
Had a colt by More Than Ready. Sold in foal to Winstar last year for $400,000.
If healthy, there is no question that Arrogate will be in the BC Classic. My initial reaction after the loss to Collected in the BC was that he was 10 lengths slower when comparing to his DWC's form. But after seeing the speed ratings and figures for the race, Collected actually ran a very good 10f race. In fact, Collected ran better than any of Gun Runner's 10f (or 2000 meter) races.
Can't believe Baffert is seriously thinking of running Arrogate in the B.C.Classic. He said Arrogate was running in spots and was proud off him that last 1/8 mile. This horse lost by 15 1/2 lengths before that. Baffert has destroyed his reputation in 2 races all at Del Mar now he is going for the trifecta.
Tapwrit Lookin At Lee Irap Girvin
My picks: 1st-Cracksman 2nd-Atty Persse 3rd-Khalidi 4th-Spanish Steps or Venice Beach.
Is there any video, please?
That big long, raking stride on a flat track like York could make Barney Roy really difficult to peg back in the Juddmonte International, but I still think Royal-Ascot was a case of Churchill not firing or running anywhere near his best for whatever reason, and though I know this is a bit of a retrieval mission for him, I can't help but think that at his very best, he's the most talented horse in this field. This could turn out to be a case of me picking more with my heart than my head, but my picks for this race are: 1st-Churchill, 2nd-Barney Roy, 3rd-Ulysses 4th-Shutter Speed or Cliffs Of Moher.
Officially retired
Girvin just doesn't get much love from the fans. I blame his name because he is a fine horse.
Should be interesting to see if he can stretch out.
I'd love to see her race in Dubai on World Cup Night. The World can then see how good this mare is.
Do yourself a favor and watch this one's debut from Canterbury. She is going to be something special. Just insane. https://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-racing/race/usa/cby/2017/8/20/6/northern-lights-debutante-s
Last comment for now..Only "2" Grade 1s at age 3..only "2" at age 4.."only" 4 Grade 1 victories..including 2 that had a ridiculous inflated purse. This is not even including only 10 starts with 3 losses and losing his last 2 starts including a complete Flop..Hall of Fame horse?..All Timer?...The GOAT?...What the heck kind of Resume is this??..No offense but it is ridiculous and VERY disrespectful to Horse people like me and Horse racing in general to Annoint a horse with a resume like this as the next secretariat or as his trainer said, "Best horse since secretariat"...and i am gonna speak up for whats right sorry..in time if Arrogate proves himself worthy i will have NO problem giving him the respect he deserves
  • Mike in SB · Ghostzapper only won 4 Grade One races in his career and one of those a sprint and he is in the Hall of Fame and plenty of people on this site are calling him one of the best horses of this century. · 13 hours ago
Just like Chrome, this horse will never get the respect he deserves. RIP
  • Patricia King via Disqus · I hope Chrome gets the respect, he earned it on the track. I also hope he produces offspring that will do him proud. Hard to believe that Shared Belief will have been gone 2 years soon. Very tough part of the sport losing a great horse suddenly, and to soon. · 13 hours ago
