It's been confirmed! First mare has checked in foal to him :)
Get geared up ladies and gentlemen! We are only days away!
  • papillon · based on? there are only two long (two turn) MSWs in the current condition book that goes through march 5. one dirt, one turf. both are this sat. the 28th. the only other MSWs in the book are on march 6 & 7, one dirt, one turf, both are short (one turn). Sherriffs has been pretty consistent in saying Cozmic One will start at two turns--which seems wise tbh. based on his works, he doesn't appear to have any early speed, even if it turns out he can close like his dam. also, zenyatta.com hasn't made an announcement--given this is the biggest news for team z since she foaled him, you'd think they'd be eager to share. one last thought--his work on the 19th, was the first after a two week hiatus and he had been working once a week like clock work since early dec. not saying your wrong, but would be nice to know the source. · 2 days ago

Nathan, on Sat. at GP in the 7th race. All eyes and most of the win pool will be on Wisecracker. But do not fall asleep on Seeking Alpha.
  • SSilence86 via Disqus · I've had Wisecracker in my v. stable for a long time. I hope he does well :) · 9 hours ago
It's interesting that Stonestreet will not let either OK or CD run at GP. It's also interesting that it appears they are favoring CD a bit by making OK ship up to the NE.
How fit is this guy, Nathan??? Three MSWs in the book for March 7: 5 1/2 dirt 7 1/2 turf and an outside the box 1 3/16ths turf...
  • tmallios via Disqus · Todd is not going to rush this one at all. Figure him for a 7F next time,or even longer. This is the type that can be slotted into the Peter Pan. Then The Easy Goer on Belmont Day. If he is the nuts as they think, then you get serious with him. Something tells me that he may be Todds Haskell horse. · 12 hours ago
It's probably happened before, but when was the last time Godolphin bought a horse from Coolmore?

  • Goblin · My first thought was that if Northport doesn't know the answer, probably no one here does; and I could not recall it ever having happened. ;) · 15 hours ago
  • jonquil · Although I don't recall them buying from Coolmore, I do know they bred with Coolmore stallions up until the some time in mid-2000s. But that's not quite the same thing, I expect. · 12 hours ago
"this is the worst 3 y/o crop" is one of the mantras that ROOKIES learn to emote yet NEVER understand it in context: HOW can you tell how a GROWING and MATURING animal is going to do BEFORE THE FACT??

  • travel_vic · Pedigrees NOW that we know of epigenetics, are even MORE flawed than they were before the idea of environmentally caused gene activation with a controller gene. · 15 days ago
  • MarkKennedy · Vic. I think it's way to early to say this is the worst crop There are still several un defeated horses that haven't got going · 12 hours ago
El Kabeir was beaten by a superior horse. Far From Over cold have continued on another 1/8 or more. His last 1/16th is his Waterloo. He cannot go further than a mile at graded Stakes speed. He also has a lot of mileage on that frame. I believe he needs a breather. On a limb I would predict he will not hit the board in the Gotham.

  • jonquil · Very lovely artwork indeed. :) I really love looking at old portraits of race horses. They're always so interesting! This definitely invokes that same feel. Timeless. · 12 hours ago
There's going to be a bunch of nice horse not get in the derby this yr. could make for an exciting yr of horse racing
Heres the Undefeated list. in no particular order. Mr. Jordan, Khozan, Dortmund, Itsaknockout, Far from Over, Caribbean Cowboy, Mr. L.S Shoe, Gentlemens Agreement, Supermason, Ocean Knight.
  • reversecowboy77 · Also Undefeated, Recount, Blofeld, Competitive Edge, Ocho Ocho Ocho, Barbados. Academy Bay. · 15 hours ago
  • MarkKennedy · There a bunch of undefeated colts this yr. It's about to get exciting. I really think we are going to see some stars really step up. For me. I'm excited about 4. Far from over. Oceans knight. Khozan. And Keen ice. · 12 hours ago
Curlin’s Fox to scratch from G3 Santa Ysabel on Sat at SA, per trainer C. Gaines. Will nominate to China Doll on turf March 7. According to DRF
  • Goblin · That sounds like a very good idea to me. While she appears to be quite talented, I thought it was a bit ambitious to take her from 6.5f. on the turf (down the hill) to 8.5f. on dirt in only her second start. The 8f. China Doll on turf is a way to gradually increase her distances and allow her to garner more actual racing experience. Many of the fillies in the Santa Ysabel have had numerous previous starts. · 14 hours ago
  • MarkKennedy · Dang but she is better suited to the turf · 12 hours ago
Ranked in top 100 Greatest American race horses of 20th century. She became dam of near Triple Crown winner Tim Tam and stakes winning colts On-and-On and Pied d'Or.
Those were the days with so many excellent horses racing against each other over and over! Stymie was noted for carrying his head high. Still in some pedigrees today! He will live in Japan for decades through his descendant Sunday Silence.
tmallios, your horse Top of Mind is entered at Laurel Park Friday, Race 9 allowance race, hopefully we see of repeat performance like his debut
  • tmallios via Disqus · I do not like the move 1 bit J. This looks as though they are trying to force this horse into a race. Maybe it is the Derby. Why are they wheeling him back in a 2 week period. Almost as though they are trying to put a square peg into a round hole. Seems as though they were fooled by the eye test. He did it so effortlessly, that they think the race took nothing out of him. Like i have said before, when horses run fast races there is always an effort put forth. I will never get it,for whatever the reason they got a late start. This horse was supposed to make his debut in January of this year, but was a VET Scratch. They are acting as though they might run out of races to run in over the next 2 months. Winning is irrelevant for this week. He should be able to boss these around. But the problem becomes after it. · 3 days ago
  • tmallios via Disqus · I guess they either read my post(LOL) , or they had a change of heart. He did not make the entries. Thankfully reason prevailed, for whatever the reason. If they feel stronly about him,i would rather they really went outside the box with a bit of rest. Run him in either the Private Terms or The Harrison Johnson at 9F on either 3/14 or 3/21. Last year Kid Cruz won the Private Terms in his 2nd start of the season. Top of Mind looks to be a much better prospect at this time than K.C. looked last year. If he aces that test, take a shot in the hometown Preakness Stakes. But running a horse this good in an Alw race will not do him that good. With his bloodlines,he should relish the 9F.Also the pace scenerio will be that much easier on him than a 1 turn Mile. Just bring in a healthy and fit horse to the race.He does not have to win it,although he will be a strong contender. The experience he gains in there will be priceless in his upcoming races. · 13 hours ago
