Zenyatta does it again!

It is a performance that trainer John Shirreffs and thousands of others never tire of watching - Zenyatta running through the stretch.

Saturday at Santa Anita, Zenyatta, the champion older female of 2008, extended her unbeaten streak to 13 with a comprehensive win in the $299,000 Lady's Secret Stakes over 1 1/16 miles. She won by 1 1/4 lengths over Lethal Heat, but the margin was somewhat deceptive. Jockey Mike Smith hand-rode Zenyatta to the wire in 1:42.89.

The front page says it all, "Zenyatta does it again!" Simple but effective. Remember that phrase, because she'll keep on doing it again and again as long as this big mare continues to race. She owns whatever racetrack she's on. I've been watching horse racing for a long time, and I don't think I've ever seen a horse lag at the back of a pack like she often does and then just gobble up so much ground in the stretch. She makes winning look easy. ''
It's a shame Zenyatta is campaigned by the people who have her right now. This is a mare that has deserved much better handling than she's received, and her legacy is going to suffer tenfold because of it. In decades, I think people will remember Rachel Alexandra - and it's amazing to consider that she's possibly not even the best female in racing right now. They've just never campaigned Zenyatta with any boldness (i.e. why wasn't she in the Goodwood instead of the Lady's Secret?), and her legacy is going to suffer because of that. A shame.
...and it would be a Hollywood ending if Zenyatta captured the Classic and wrapped up her career with a perfect 14 for 14 record...awesome mare!
What a mare. What a performance. I sometimes wonder if Zenyatta shouldn't be a movie star instead of a racehorse. At the end of the Woodward this year, when R.A. had went 8-0 on the year the announcer referred to her as "Alexandra the Great. So since Zenyatta has went 13-0 for a career, up to this point, she must be "Joan of Arc. Not because she'll be beheaded or burned at the stake, but because all the males followed her because of her power. That may be the case in the Breeder's Cup Classic, all the powerful males following her to the finish line, because imo she'll be leading the way to the line coming down the stretch.
Can you believe it! Mike Smith has Zenyatta completely in hand throughout and she still dominates. Yes, put her in the Classic where she belongs.
Zenyatta in the Classic would be a treat for the fans. She might be the only one capable of stopping another overseas domination of the big event.
Zenyatta vs. Sea The Stars... absolutely... now that would be awesome...
Five words: BRING ON SEA THE STARS. Once and for all, let's do it in the Classic, "WHO IS THE BEST", I think they owe this sport an answer (and so too does Rachel!)
