Zenyatta completed her serious
preparation for the $250,000 Lady’s Secret Stakes, Presented by TVG, on Oct. 2
at Hollywood Park with a six furlong work Saturday
morning.
Working with stablemate El Vino, the
6-year-old Street Cry mare, who is undefeated in 18 starts, was timed for the
move over Cushion Track in 1:13 4/5, according to Hollywood Park clocker Russ
Hudak.
Owned by Jerry and Ann Moss and trained
by John Shirreffs, Zenyatta, who has won the Lady’s Secret the last two years,
ran the first three furlongs in 37 3/5 seconds and completed the final
three-eighths of a mile in 36 1/5. A win would be the eighth over the Hollywood Park main track for Zenyatta, who has
been stabled here throughout her career.
The Lady’s Secret is one of four Grade
1’s that will be run on Oct. 2 as part of the opening weekend of the first Oak
Tree at Hollywood
Park meet. The card
will also include the $250,000 Goodwood Stakes, the $250,000 Norfolk Stakes and
the $250,000 Yellow Ribbon Stakes.
