Zazu back in action at Hollywood Park

Zazu, a multiple graded stakes winner, will make her first start as a 4-year-old in the $150,000 Marjorie L. Everett Handicap Saturday at Betfair Hollywood Park.

A Grade II at 1 1/16 miles over Cushion Track, the Everett, which was formerly called the Milady Handicap, was renamed this year to honor Mrs. Everett, the former chairwoman, chief executive officer and president of Hollywood Park who died March 23.

Owned by Jerry and Ann Moss and trained by John Sadler, Zazu has been idle since capturing the Grade I Lady’s Secret Stakes last Oct. 1 at Santa Anita.

A gray daughter of Tapit and the Mr. Greeley mare Rhumb Line, Zazu has won four of 11 and earned $682,985. Zazu, who defeated 2011 Kentucky Oaks winner Plum Pretty in the Grade II Hollywood Oaks last June 25, has been worse than third only once in her career.

Trainer Ron Ellis will be seeking his third win in this race when he saddles Include Me Out for owner Samantha Siegel’s Jay Em Ess Stable. The other victories for Ellis came with Twice the Vice in 1996 and I Ain’t Bluffing – for Jay Em Ess – in 1998.

A 4-year-old Include filly out of the Mazel Trick mare Don’t Trick Her, Include Me Out enters off consecutive graded victories at Santa Anita. The Kentucky bred won the Grade II La Canada by 4 ¼ lengths Jan. 22 before winning the Grade I Santa Margarita by 3 ¼ lengths March 17. Successful four times in eight starts, Include Me Out has earned $363,600.

Ellafitz, who had a three race win streak snapped when fourth at 4-5 in the Santa Margarita, returns to the scene of her victory in the Grade II Bayakoa Handicap last Dec. 4.

Trained by Hall of Famer Bob Baffert for owner D & E Racing LLC, the 5-year-old daughter of Tiznow and the Dixieland Band mare Skat Girl has won six of 15 and banked $415,957.

Fresh off an allowance win over Cushion Track April 26, Caelis will be making her graded debut for owners Brous Stable and Wachtel Stable and trainer Peter Miller. The 4-year-old Avonbridge filly out of the Lyphard mare Shona has won four of 17 and earned $86,858.

A full sister to multiple graded stakes winner Colonel John, Kayce Ace will be seeking her fourth win in six starts over the Betfair Hollywood Park main track. Owned by Casner Racing LP and trained by Eoin Harty, the 5-year-old daughter of Tiznow and the Turkoman mare Sweet Damsel is 3-for-13 lifetime with a bankroll of $149,190.

She has made two appearances in graded races, finishing seventh in both the Grade III Selene in 2010 at Woodbine and the Grade II Santa Maria earlier this year at Santa Anita.

Last of seven in the Grade II La Troienne won by longshot Juanita May 4 at Churchill Downs, Love Theway Youare returns to Southern California for owner-trainer Myung Kwon Cho. The 4-year-old Arch filly out of the Tabasco Cat mare Diversa has two wins in 17 attempts and has earned $212,990.

The Kentucky bred has lost 10 in a row since winning consecutive starts in 2011. She defeated maidens April 1 at Santa Anita before taking an optional claimer over Cushion Track three weeks later.

Suzettes Friend will be making her first start since Aug. 26, 2011 for owner Raymond Taylor and trainer Rafael DeLeon.

A 6-year-old daughter of Friends Lake and the Gulch mare Kelbey, Suzettes Friend has four wins in 19 starts and earnings of $112,048. She has never competed in a graded event.

From inside out, the field for the Marjorie L. Everett Handicap: Include Me Out, Joe Talamo rides, 120 pounds; Caelis, Kevin Krigger, 114; Love Theway Youare, Alonso Quinonez, 116; Suzettes Friend, Eswan Flores, 112; Kayce Ace, Martin Garcia, 114; Zazu, Garrett Gomez, 121 and Ellafitz, Rafael Bejarano, 120.
