The Breeders’ Cup and Xpressbet, the official
account wagering provider of the Breeders’ Cup World Championships, today
announced that Xpressbet will conduct the Beat the Host Championship Round, an
online handicapping tournament on Breeders’ Cup Saturday, November 3.
The contest will have a minimum guaranteed $25,000 prize pool.
The Xpressbet Beat the Host
Championship Round will be preceded by four weekly online qualifying tournaments
– October 6, 13, 20 and 27. The weekly contests follow the popular Xpressbet
‘Beat the Host’ format, where players try to out-handicap expert hosts
in order to qualify for the Championship Round. Only one entry per person is
permitted in all rounds.
Total tournament cash prizes will be
at least $35,000, a total of $2,500 weekly to the top three players in each of four
Qualifying Rounds and a $25,000 minimum guaranteed pool in the Championship
Round, including $10,000 to the first-place finisher.
The Championship Saturday contest
will be open to all players. Non-qualified players may ‘buy-in’ to
the Championship Round for $100 per registration—one registration per
account holder. All buy-in monies will be applied to the prize pool and 100% of
the entry fees will be paid back to players in prize money. For example, if
500 players buy-in at $100 each, the Championship Round total prize pool would escalate
to $50,000.
Registration is open now for the weekly
Beat the Host Breeders’ Cup online qualifying tournament at Xpressbet.com. The
contest is open to Xpressbet and DRF Bets account holders.
In Beat the Host Qualifying Rounds
each Saturday in October, players attempt to exceed the Host’s cumulative
mutuel payoff total based on single, online, live $5 win wagers on one horse in
each of eight (8) mandatory contest races ($40 total bankroll required).
Mandatory races and host picks will be posted each Friday by 5 pm ET. All
players whose total winnings exceed those of the Host will advance to the
Championship Round on Saturday, November 3. No Championship Round entry fee is
required for these qualifiers.
