Super Saver's Brother Comes Home

WinStar Farm is very pleased to announce the “homecoming” of Hedge Fund, the full brother to the 2010 Kentucky Derby winner, Super Saver. Here is a touching video showing the arrival of Hedge Fund at WinStar Farm: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KVga4bFbnbI

 
According to Bill Casner, Chairman and Co-Owner of WinStar Farm: “We made arrangements to have Hedge Fund come to WinStar Farm and retire him from active racing. It was time for him to come home, so to speak, to the home of his full brother, Super Saver. At WinStar, we feel we have a sincere responsibility to take care of our own, and even though WinStar never had an ownership interest in Hedge Fund, we just thought it would be a crowning star for him to retire to the farm of his full brother.”

 

Hedge Fund is a beautiful 2003 gelding out of Maria’s Mon and Supercharger. Hedge Fund’s lifetime earnings were $160,699 with five wins, 15 places, and 8 shows in 56 racing starts. Hedge Fund will become another benefactor of WinStar’s philosophy to give retired horses a great place to live out their lives. As a retired gelding at WinStar, Hedge Fund will receive the same excellent treatment that all of WinStar’s horses get every day, whether they are a Kentucky Derby winner (Super Saver), a champion stallion like Tiznow, a Belmont Stakes winner (Drosselmeyer), or the other happily retired horses living at WinStar Farm.

 

Elliott Walden, Director of Racing at WinStar cheerfully added: “Hedge Fund is now retired and will get all the benefits of living at WinStar. He will not be coming back, ala Brett Favre”.

I think it is kind and generous of Mr. Casner and Winstar to take care of retired racehorses the way they do! It is only morally right for a horse that has given his ALL for his owner's satisfaction, that the owner should reciprocate and do his or her best by the horse!!!
