Gold Mark Farm’s 15-10 favorite Wicked
Uno broke in stride to make the pace and held on in the final strides to
win Monday’s $45,000 five-and-a-half-furlong feature for 3-year-old fillies at
Fair Grounds by a head.
The winner paid $5, $3 and $2.10, set
early splits of 23.13 and 46.75 before tripping the final timer in 1:05.23 and
increased her career earnings to $54,630 with her second win in three lifetime
starts.
Heiligbrodt Racing Stable’s Lela,
second choice in the wagering at 19-10, pressed the pace of the winner
throughout, was making up some ground late but could not get by while clearly
second best. She paid $3.40 and $2.40, while finishing third, 1 3/4-lengths
farther back, was Louie Roussel III’s Superior Attitude, who returned $3
to show.
Racing resumes Friday at Fair Grounds
with a nine-race program beginning at 1:10 p.m.
