Two more prep-race upsets have muddled an already jumbled Kentucky Derby picture.

Brilliant Speed, who won the Blue Grass Stakes at Keeneland, and Archarcharch (Arkansas Derby) have left oddsmaker Mike Battaglia scratching his head in search of a morning-line favorite for the May 7 Derby.

“Wow,” Battaglia said. “I have no idea. It's crazy. This is just totally ridiculous.”

Battaglia said that Florida Derby winner Dialed In — trained by two-time Kentucky Derby winner Nick Zito — will likely be the favorite “by default.”

sodlat and archx3 are my two favorites.
My favorites are Mucho Macho Man and Soldat. I will probably add Twice the Appeal and Dialed in the Superfecta. This one of the best betting races for Superfectas.
Dialed In and Nehro are my favorites. I would like to see Calvin Borel on Nehro.
Give Uncle Mo another chance, and Dialed In is nore than logical, but my dark horse to win the 2011 Kentucky Derby is ANIMAL KINGDOM !!! He is bred to get the distance, he has had excuses in his losses (never a bad race), & his best effort came in his last start. Rounding to top form at the right time? Hope so...
lol.. If it were that easy just sit back relax and then take it by 5 or 6 lenghts . That was a very tough race and it took everything she had to win by a nose. How can you say it was stupid? She won a Male dominated race as a filly it was amazing. What happened to Big Brown when Dtara was a rabbit? She won the race guys a historic win . Calvin Borel drug her to the wire !!!
have to agree with icyhot here, facing the sort of competition she was there in the Woodward there was no reason to go to the lead except he was over confident in her abilities which there was nothing wrong with but the focus of the whole world is never just 1 race, not even a $5 or $10millon race, you want to have horse next time out. Hearing that Asmussen stated after the race that’s not how he expected or wanted the race to be ran told me everything, and in having dealing with some that were close to her, they knew she wasn’t the same after that, she laid her body down for him in that race, but she learned her lesson and never did again, when she was eyeballed she dug in gamely but never once laid it down again and that showed how smart a filly she was, basically saying I’ll try to win for you but I will not kill myself for you, which she almost did in that race. Da’Tara was in there as a rabbit and he did his job, he was a allowance horse at the time, so why go out and have an allowance horse chase her, 4 lengths off him and she turns for home and speeds away to a 5 or 6 length victory under a firm hold. But setting the pace :22 out of the gate was stupid and a reason that I always felt that they should have made the change to Robbie Albarado. You want her to rate but the jockey doesn’t ask her to rate like he should.
Ya and then she could have went to dubai and won the 10 million dollar race? So your saying she couldnt recover in 6 months? From 1 race thats laughable. The Jockeys job is to WIN the race they are in bottom line and he was the reason she won the woodward. Watch the stretch he works so hard on her to get to the wire first.
he won the race and ended her career with an awful ride never letting her relax the whole race.he could have easily sat 3 lengths back of the leader won easily then she could have gone on and beat Zenyatta in the Apple Blossom in 2010(sorry I get my years confused Z ran there so many times,nothing new beating the same horses again and again)
Ok I just rewatched the Woodward and Honestly Calvin Borel won her that race.. Watch it he pushes her so hard gets everything out of her what an amazing performance by horse and Jockey!! Well done It made a champion !!
my point is he won the derby on a shoo in,Street Sense,a juiced horse MTB,and SS in the mud every time riding the rail.BTW Rachel was a freat filly before he got her and he ruined her career with an awful ride in the Woodward Stakes.Any even decent rider wouldn't have contested EVERY horse in the race but would have sat off Da Tara's flank about 3 lengths and take them all on in the stretch.anther thought MTB and SS were also never any good after he rode them into the ground thats my point.
I dont see your point. Everyone knows the guy can win the derby. That is the whole focus right now WINNING the derby so Id have to say If he doesnt have a mount its a complete joke. Hes Won 3 out of the last 4 right? Maybe without him R A wouldnt have been so great? Im glad he rode her tough . She had an amazing season .
Nehro and Dialed In is my to pick but anything can happen in the Kentucky Derby. I pick them because of their closing speed.
He gutted the best filly to ever step on a track...he took EA from Anna and lost,lost,lost...Anyone could have won on Street Sense,MTB was so juiced he held up till the Belmont,Super Saver a one race wonder,if he is so great a jock how come no more wins on SS...if he rode the rail in the 50s,60,70,his wouldn't have gotten 10 lifetime races in.That was holy ground then and nobody gaveit to you like they do him.in short he's a chump

anyone giving calvin a mount worth over $7,500 is out of their mind.After watching him gut Rachel at Saratoga and degrade Elite Alex you really have to wonder about this clown.
I am sure Calvin Borel will get a Derby mount and that horse figures to take action on that angle alone.
It will be Dialed In. He'll be a tepid favorite, and its hard to peg what the number will be, but Dialed In will be the favorite. I look for him to probably be like 7 to 1, maybe even 8 to 1. After that it's hard to say. Jaycito can bring up his stock in the Lexington, the Arkansas Derby top 2 will get play, Mucho Macho Man seems to still be on the mind of many, and Uncle Mo, although stock largely dropped, still will be played with many dismissing one bad start with an actual excuse in his infection.
