Who Am I ???

Who Am I ???

*Bred in Kentucky, my sire was best known for twice winning grade 1 races over a Hall of Famer from Calumet.

*Familiar with both coasts, I ran 11 times in California and 10 times in New York.

*My first stakes win came at the Spa, while my last was at Arlington Park.

*Nine of my twelve race riders are in racing's Hall of Fame.

*I won more stakes races a different year, but my Eclipse Award season included six straight first or second place finishes in grade 1 races.

*All of my victories came on the dirt, and there was only a three furlong spread from the shortest to the longest.

*In between May races at Churchill and Pimlico, and a June race at Belmont, I missed by a nose at Garden State Park.

*My Hall of Fame trainer's last victory came just a few days ago at Saratoga.

*I was 3 for 3 in my Chicago starts, but in Nebraska I was winless in the same amount of tries.

*Overall I ran in 17 grade 1 races, and was never higher than 4-1 in any of them.

*Mangia! Mangia!

You should know by now … Who Am I ???

Tonight is a Who Am I ??? night. I hope to see you all there! http://www.horseracingnation.com/blogs/zatt
I'm having fun learning about these horses that you are familiar with, Laz, thanks.
Mary another amazing victory. Congrats!
So, I did my research earlier, guys (Hi, footy. Thanks ! Hi jay s. I'm not able to check your profile and I guess mine doesn't come up either, unfortunately for the curious, lol, but thanks, too.) and the Hall Of Fame Calumet horse, that Family Style's sire State Dinner beat twice, was Alydar. State Dinner won the 1979 Metropolitan while Alyadar had his worst finish since his career debut race and finished 6th, one of his two off the board finishes in 26 lifetime races. State Dinner also won the 1979 Suburban when Alydar ran third. That was Alydar's final race.
Mary Z! The Zenyatta of Horseracingnation followers. Leaving us guys in the dust.
The amazing Mary Z. wins again!!!
Thanks, Anna. I'm still just learning about these fine Thoroughbreds.
Really good Mary--again. You win a LOT.
Thanks, Brian. I almost missed tonight's contest. Just returned home in time.
D. Wayne it was ... Wear your crown proudly, Mary ... you earned it tonight!
So with D.Wayne Lukas as the trainer, it took me a little while to figure out his Eclipse winner that fit the clues.
Family Style
Charismatic
Ladys Secret
Einstein
How: Optimizer finally won. Not easy, Brian. Your clues have been tough to crack lately.
Congtatulations, Mary ... obviously this one was not easy!
