Who Am I ???

Who Am I ???

*I was bred in the great state of Kentucky, but my sire's first language was French.

*A winner of 65% of my career races, I also finished in the money in 94% of them.

*I could only win once in my first six starts, but that victory did come in a stakes race at Saratoga.

*A member of an elite club, both my trainer and I are members of racing's Hall of Fame.

*I raced only on dirt, but I was a stakes winner at nine different distances.

*The only time I was not favored as a three-year-old was in the Belmont Stakes.

*I may not have been first, but I am still proud of my most special accomplishment.

*At the time of my retirement, I held the all-time record for career earnings.

*I was never beaten by more lengths than I was in the Travers Stakes.

*Besides being a stakes winner at four different racetracks in New York, I also won stakes in three other states.

*I was a star at stud as well; perhaps you've been to the namesake of my most famous son.

You should know by now … Who Am I ???

Someday I'm going to win this thing!
Sun Beau?
Nice! I was stuck on French speaking sires, and barking up the wrong Nureyev tree.
When I say star I usually look at Bull Lea, Fair Play, Bold Ruler, Alydar and Northern Dancer. Depends on how loose you are with words. I would have preferred "successful". Nice job, aheitner, you never seem to fail at these Who Am I???'s. I look forward to next week.
Well done, Alan ... I thought the not being favored in the Belmont might throw people off the Triple Crown trail, but you were too smart for that. cocoa2, would you preferred I used the words excellent sire for the horse who sired a Horse of the Year, a Triple Crown winner, and a major winner in England among his many stakes winners?
Holding the record for career earnings led me to believe that it was an old timer. Then I took the chance that the "most special accomplishment" was a triple crown. And Sir Gallahad, the sire of Gallant Fox is from France. Unfortunately, I haven't been to Omaha yet!
Good job, aheitner.
"I was a star at stud as well", very misleading.
How did you nail this one down, Alan?
nice going, Al, just a bunch of decades before my time!
No, not Fair Play ... Alan, did you say Gallant Fox??? You are correct, sir!
Skip Away?
Alysheba is also incorrect.
Gallant Fox
fair play
Alysheba?
Sorry, it is not Pyramid Peak.
Pyramid Peak
It is neither Kelso, nor Storm Cat.
